Miscarriage bleeding help

Started miscarrying a few days ago, lots of cramping / pain but it settled. Yesterday and today the bleeding and clots have ramped up and I’m changing a night time pad every 1-1.5hrs. It’s just constant for 24hrs now and way heavier than a period / my previous miscarriage. I rang EPAU but they said to call back if I start to feel faint but nothing else. Anything else I should be doing? Just feel a bit worried / over thinking

Hello I am so so sorry to hear your loss.
Are you alone at home ?
The thing to worry about in this situation is severe bleeding.
If you feel very weak, on the verge of fainting or very pale, you need to see a doctor urgently.
Take care of yourself.

Fairylights21 · 14/01/2024 13:54

No not at home alone, just brought myself back to bed to lay down / nap. I do feel a bit faint but I’ve not been eating very well so I think it’s more to do with that.

You'll have to eat, even a little.
Courage for this difficult ordeal, which many women experience personally…

I went through this at 8 weeks pregnant a couple of years ago - the bleeding was very heavy for about 2 days but it did settle down. Just take care of yourself, lots of bedrest and take it easy. If it doesnt seem to be getting less after a couple days, then please ring the hospital back

so sorry xxx

I am a retired nurse/ midwife. You need to be seen asap. Please just go in. You are feeling faint, just tell them that.

HopeAndStrength · 14/01/2024 14:03

So sorry @Fairylights21 it is a horrible thing to go through. Everyone's experience will be different but for me, I eventually went to A&E due to the amount of blood loss and pain. I was getting through full pads very quickly.
Take care and don't be afraid to go get help if you need it.

I'd do the same - just get yourself seen. I've had many miscarriages and not had so much bleeding, the only time I bled that
Much was wheny periods returned after I had my second baby, and I had drugs to help the bleeding stop
Good luck

Fairylights21 · 14/01/2024 15:08

@HopeAndStrength stupid question but what do they do at hospital? I’m a bit scared to go in and would rather hide in my bed which I’m sure you guys get 😭

They will check your pulse and blood pressure, feel your abdomen, assess the bleeding, do an internal exam/ look with a speculum, take some blood samples. They might put in a cannula to give you some fluids or tgey might wait till the blood results are back.

endofthelinefinally · 14/01/2024 15:25

Please go in OP. You can lose a dangerous amount of blood during a miscarriage.

Fairylights21 · 14/01/2024 15:29

If I did want to go in where do I go, I rang my epau and they didn’t seem bothered. It’s closed now I think but will check so it means a&e which could be a lengthy wait.

Just wish epau had offered to check me over earlier today.

I was lucky in the sense that they kindly put me straight in a room away from the waiting area as I was in such a mess (waters popped as soon as I arrived which I was not expecting) and I was then whisked away in a wheelchair.
I was put on a cannula so they could give me pain relief and some kind of anti nausea medication as I had also been sick. I was monitored via a heart rate thing that they stuck to my chest, then ended up being moved to the resuss room as they were concerned by my readings (I don't remember everything but I was very shaky by that point). I think I was then given medication to try to stop the bleeding, and after a while they gave me an internal exam.
When the bleeding slowed, they kept me in for monitoring whilst they gave me fluids, and booked a scan for the next day.
I'm very glad I went to A&E as I couldn't cope any longer at home on my own. I hope you are okay.

When I miscarriaged at 14 weeks I started losing ridiculous amounts of blood I had to have an internal and have some of the tissue removed manually because I had a large part stuck in my cervix entrance which was making me hemorrhage. Hope you are ok go get seen x
