Irregular cycle after Csection - talk me off the paranoid ledge

Ella31 · 10/01/2024 23:01

Can someone talk sense into me. I'm 9 week postpartum on cycle day 7 period ended 3 days ago..but got a flashing smiley opk yesterday and then today light pink spotting.

Is this just my cycle being irregular after my section. I'm just worried something is wrong. Can someone shed light on this as I'm so worried.

My cycle was all over the place for about 8 months post partum.

Why are you doing OPKs?

I lost my twins 9 weeks ago and I'm tracking my cycles as we will be trying again soon. My gyne is happy with my recovery and We have been given the all clear to go again due to our circumstances.

Very sorry to hear about your loss, losing one child is painful enough let alone twins.

It will take some for your cycle to settle into a steady routine, so I would be patient with the process for couple more months.

I think the major concern is if you had a C-section you may want to hold off TTC until you're fully healed. Typically they recommend a year at least, but given your circumstances, not sure if your clinicians may have advised you otherwise.

We have been given the go ahead. I've had follow up checkups as well as attending counselling. But most importantly my gyne and gp are happy for me to go ahead. I was 29 weeks, very small scar that has healed really well.

So very sorry to read of your terrible loss, nothing I've tried to type sounds right. I totally understand your need to try again I really do but give yourself a little break please. I personally after several losses drove myself demented with monitoring and tests, changing diet, everything.

Its genuinely just to see my cycle. Its hard to explain but when you lose your babies - the way we did my first twin was stillborn and his brother died 4 days later in the neonatal unit, you have an absolute hole in your life. Literally robbed of a future you had imagined.

I know ppl are being helpful telling me not to try again but I have been assessed and given the go ahead to try again. we are ready to, neither of us can afford to put our lives on hold. It won't bring my sons back or change what happened but it will bring some joy into our lives.

Ah I see, that makes sense. I agree it, putting your life on hold won't accelerate the healing process. So if you're ready, it makes sense to TTC as soon as feasible.

@Outliers thanks for the reply. Yeah I feel quite lucky to be honest, I have to say the recovery was really good. Sailed through it and I know that isn't usually the norm for csections , maybe it was a parting gift from my boys who knows. 😍
