OPKs - where to start?!

I’ve been TTC again after a complex and drawn out miscarriage. Desperate to be pregnant again ASAP (how do you stop it taking up every waking thought? 🤪)

As part of this I want to start using OPKs again. They never worked for me in the past so interested to know what other people find helpful in terms of brands / any other gadgets!

It's useful to have an idea of roughly the length of your cycles? Is there any pattern to them at all?

The average woman having an average cycle length of 28 days would usually have an LH surge detected on an OPK on d13 and ovulate on d14.

So if your cycles are around 28 days then I'd start on day 9/10, or if your cycles are a bit longer then start day 11/12 of a cycle

Annoyingly there isn’t! I have endometriosis which means that my cycles are pretty irregular.

that’s really helpful advice though, thank you 💖 are there any particular brands of EPK that you’ve found good? I’ve tried using the smiley face Clear Blue ones before but never seemed to get a peak result!

The point at which I get EWCM seems to jump around a bit too. Some months I don’t get that so am not sure whether I’ve ovulated! I’ve tried tracking my BBT but the only time that really seemed to be consistent was when I was pregnant.

Have been TTC for about 2 years now for first baby and find it all quite exhausting - emotionally and physically!

Easy@home opk’s have been good for me, pretty cheap on Amazon. My lh surge always happens in the afternoon & o think that is pretty common so you might want to try afternoon testing after a few hours hood rather than first morning urine x

When using the clearblues, did you keep testing late into your cycle or did you give up assuming they weren't working? The reason I ask is when I started tracking ovulation I assumed the average cycle length of 14 days would roughly apply, but it turns out I actually don't ovulate until day 21 of a 30 day cycle - I thought the OPKs weren't working but turns out I just ovulate much later than the average person.
