TTC & Clear Blue Advanced Ovulation Test - Help!

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has experienced the same thing as me? It's my second cycle TTC, so I purchased the Clear Blue Advanced Ovulation Test. My cycle is an average of 26 days, so as per the instructions, I started testing on day 7. I immediately got a 'Peak Fertility' symbol that stayed on the screen for 48 hours. According to their website they're over 99% accurate at detecting the LH surge.

However, their website also says, I won't get a 'High Fertility' symbol on the first day of testing as it needs to detect a baseline. I'm SO confused. I know 'High fertility' and 'peak fertility' are two different things, and this test detects two different hormones, but is it accurate? When I inputted my ovulation test results into Flo, it brought my ovulation week window forward, and now it looks like this month's cycle will only be 22 days long...

I've already contacted their customer services to see if they can clarify if my test was faulty or accurate, just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Just to clarify, I've never been pregnant before, do not have PCOS, and I'm not on any hormonal medication.

TIA!

Day 1 on these tests will always be a blank circle…even if you are on your peak as it has to detect the baseline to work from. Anything else is a faulty read. Sounds like a faulty reader 😕

@Bookworm1996 what was showing when you ejected the stick thing? The same thing happened to me this month and i panicked, but when i ejected the stick the test had flooded so it was not actually peak

I didn't eject it straightaway as I forgot this was something I had to do! When I did eject it, there wasn't any excess liquid in there & the Peak Fertility still remained on the screen. It went off exactly 48 hours later.

I just did another test to see if that would indicate it was faulty, & that came back low fertility, which makes me think the ovulation kit is fine because otherwise it would've come up Peak again, when I'm outside my fertile window.

@Bookworm1996 when you ejected did the two lines both show and look the same? The one that went wrong for me had no lines on it, was just a blue blurry mess!

If you've taken it again now and it shows low then hopefully that's accurate and over coming days you will see high and then peak :)

When I ejected the test, the 2 blue lines were clear (I went back & checked my photo). So god knows! Will see what customer service say!

Response from Clear Blue:

Please note, this test cannot detect the increase in Estrogen on the first test but it can detect the raise of your LH level. From the information you kindly shared, it seems that this cycle, your peak fertility happened already on your first day of testing. As it seems you are suitable to use the product, you should be able to rely on the result. If you had intercourse during those 48 hours when the smiley face was stuck on the screen, you have maximised your chances to get pregnant.

So not a faulty test!
