Hi

ttc my 2nd and now on cd 47 and no sign of af.
I have however been getting mild menstrual feelings like I get when its on its way on and off.

This is not the first time af has gone awol I had a 3 month absence last year put down to thyroid problems.

Does anybody know what has happened on a cycle like this will I have ovulated or what.

So confused atm don,t know where to turn.

Cycle has been wacky ever since I started ttc what with the 3 month absence, and then a 23 day cycle and a 33 day cycle.
Latest thyroid function test showed tsh is now normal at 0.2 so I don,t see how that can still be causing irregular af.

I have considered using ovulation sticks but suspect I will never get a positive with them causing more questions and worry.

What should I do.

I am 37 years of age and fear I will not have another.

I have been ttc for almost 8 months and have had my af 3 times in all of that time.
Does that mean I can only say I have been ttc for 3 cycles then.

I didn,t expect things to feel so complicated, last time when I concieved my ds I knew nothing about ovulatiin sticks etc and concieved on my 2nd cycle.

I am due to have a scan on the ovaries to check for polycystic ovaries and I if I have that I will sink even further into a depression.

Please change your user name!. To call your own self your current username is just doing yourself down and you don't need that.

Were you given thyroxine for the thyroid problems; was it investigated further at all by a specialist?. Your GP should be referring you now to a gynae or endocrinologist as a matter of course.
Some GPs can mess around in ignorance with such problems so it is best to ask for a referral sooner rather than later.

Polycystic ovaries is extremely common (around 1 in 5 women have PCO) and can be treated with a gynae's help though not cured. PCO is certainly not an absolute barrier to conception. If this is the underlying cause ovulation sticks will be of no use whatsoever so please refrain from using these anyway.

You have been ttc for 8 months regardless of how many periods you've had in that time.

I would return to the GP asap insisting on a specialist referral and do not take no for an answer. You will need to be persistant in order to get answers.

You ought to be referred to a gynae now as per guidelines; gynaes like to see people over the age of 35 if they have been ttc for six months without success.

Hi
AttilaTheMeerKat

Sorry about the name will change it.
Yes I was diagnosed with a underactive thyroid with a blood test carried out to find out why my AF was absent during the 3 months I didn,t get it.

I was put on thyroxine and I am still taking it and tsh is now normal.

I have thought about pushing for a referal now but am thinking that maybe I should wait for the results of the ovary scan and take it from there.

I am due to have the scan on the 4th of April.
Do you think I should still see my doctor now or wait for the results of the scan.

Hi there. Was interested to see this thread because I am now on cd42 and am NOT pregnant (have done 2 tests and would have been an immaculate conception anyway). Usually have 28-30 day cycles so am rather confused. Don't know quite where it's gone.
Should I go to the doctor? Or just wait and see?
Am 33, have symptoms i.e. spots, hunger, aches, but no period. Do want to TTC soon, but cannot see how I can unless a period arrives at some point. But hate to bother doctors particularly as I suspect just making an appt would be enough for it to start.

Hi
pooka
If this is a one off I wouldn,t worry about it tbh.

I would wait and see.

Hi BFM

Re your response to me:-

Glad to read that your TSH level is now normal but you should still be monitored closely as your thyroxine dosage may need altering from time to time.

As the 4th April is not all that far off I would have the ultrasound scan done first and then seek a referral.
