Planning to start TTC in three months - give me your advice

For context, my periods are always regular, I plan on starting TTC around March and will start taking folic acid from next week.

what else should my partner and I be doing? We don’t drink or smoke so won’t need to cut either of these out!

any diets we should be following? Any tests? Any other supplements?

thank you 💗

Get into a regular exercise habit if not already.
Strengthen your core and pelvic floor
Have an adventure of the type you can't when pregnant/with a baby or small children.

We’ve been trying for 6 months and honestly the best advice anyone gave me and something I’ve definitely not always listened to is try not to let it take over. It’s so so hard not to but honestly it can very quickly be consuming! We’ve planned lots of little fun things that we might not necessarily be able to do with a baby so that we don’t feel too bad when it doesn’t happen that month.

I was "older" I took CoQ10 and prenatal supplements (which are basically the same as pregnancy supplements).
Not sure if it did anything but I conceived 3rd cycle and then 1st cycle!

Based on my own experience I strongly advise against

  • being too goal oriented / pressured /obsessed
  • ovulation strips and early pregnancy testing (I'd wait until at least 4-5 days post period due date). Too much science can be a bad thing.

My strong advice would be: just have sex and have fun. Don't turn it into a military operation with temping and charting and peeing and hormone measuring and thinking you can MAKE it happen. You can't.

If you're not a very sexually active couple then ovulation testing for a few months to get to know your cycle so you can make sure you have sex the right sort of time of month. If you have sex every other day normally then I wouldn't worry and would just carry on!

Lower your expectations/get used to disappointment.

Keep an open mind, you never know how things will pan out once you get started - whether good or not so good. Try not to get hung up on the stats, it will be your own story. It is very much a "journey" (even though I'm not keen on that word!).

For me, I've found OPKs helpful. We've conceived quickly 4 times, resulting in 1 DS. Best of luck OP!
