Hello everyone!!

After a year of trying we luckily conceived the month we didn't try one bit as DH was going through lot of work stress.
We are over the moon over the pleasant surpise. I am 4 days late and tests are positive.
Now i am confused as to when i could have likely conceived as we DTD only 3 times in the whole month.
The first time was 2 days after my period, so CD2, 2nd time was CD 25 and 3rd time was CD 31.
Any guesses as to when it could have been?

I reckon I conceived my baby around CD 22. My vote is on the third one if you ovulated late.

BurbageBrook · 22/12/2023 16:36

No the second one sorry.

Plumbibii · 22/12/2023 16:38

It might be worth mentioning that when i testsd 2 days before AF was due it was negative.
But positive 2 days after no show of AF.

There's no way for anyone to definitively know.

But in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't really matter.

Confusedddddddd · 22/12/2023 17:41

How long is your cycle? You'll probably know more once you've had a scan. Just take 2 weeks off how far along they tell you you are, that should give you your conception date

Plumbibii · 22/12/2023 18:04

@Confusedddddddd is that the 12 week scan you arw talking about?

Matildahoney · 22/12/2023 18:19

We conceived before 12dpo of a 31 day cycle and I didn't get my bfp until I was 4 days late!

SusanKennedyshouldLTB · 22/12/2023 18:24

CD1 is the first day of your period, not the first day after. How long are your cycles? Without knowing that CD25 looks most likely, but that dependa on normal length and what you mean by CD

Plumful · 22/12/2023 18:25

It doesn’t matter. You’ll get a due date at your 12 week scan, no stress. And congrats!

Daisies12 · 22/12/2023 18:38

First day of your period is CD1. So likely you conceived on the second sex, but that was actually more like CD18 given your counting is wrong. And does it matter?

TheShellBeach · 22/12/2023 18:43

How long was your period?
You're counting wrong.

The first day of your proud is CD1.

If you bleed for 7 days, 2 days after that is CD9.

I'm going with the first one, which you have confusingly called CD2.

FlyOnTheWall89 · 22/12/2023 19:09

@Plumbibii you can do a private early scan and they'll date you by the measurements. Mine didn't change much throughout my pregnancy so they initially got it pretty bang on.

sykadelic · 22/12/2023 20:04

They date you back to the first day of your last period, so they'll say you're 4 weeks. It's interesting though as your CD mentions have completely thrown me.

Sperm can live up to 5 days and the egg is only available for fertilization for 12-24 hour so your "CD2" seems most likely but we really need to know your actual dates to be sure.

e.g. When did you start your last period? When did you have sex? How long is your "normal" period. Do you normally track ovulation and if so, what is your "normal" ovulation timeframe?

Plumbibii · 22/12/2023 23:25

Thank you everyone for your comments. I should have been more clear.
My cycle range from 30 days to 32 days.
My first day of last period now i know to call it CD1 was 16th Nov and finished on 22nd Nov.
So we DTD on CD9 , CD25 and CD 31st.
Reason i am asking is because we had been trying for a year, doing it more during my fertility window and nothing happened. And this month when we did absolutely nothing it worked so just really confused as to how things work.
I don't track ovulation.

CD9

It has to be.
You can't get pregnant as late as CD25. That's way after ovulation.

SusanKennedyshouldLTB · 23/12/2023 12:06

id say because you didnt understand what cycle days actually meant so you were not having sex at the correct time all year. But also because you have not tracked ovulation. It is ovulation that matters when ttc. The last day of your period means nothing.

Yes you can. It depends how long your average cycle is. And as op has not understood cycle days before yesterday, im not convinced her dates and lengths can be trusted as accurate. If she has been calling cd1 the day after her period ends, then has she not been including her period in her cycle?

According to the OP CD25 is 25 days after her period ended.

She now says her period lasted seven days.

That means her version of CD25 is actually CD32. CD32 is well after ovulation, even in a 35 day cycle.

Women are far more likely to conceive from sex which occurs prior to ovulation.

SusanKennedyshouldLTB · 23/12/2023 13:07

But she also says her average cycle length is up to 32 days. If she hasnt been counting from cd1, her average cycle could be 39 days long.

edited as i reread your post. Ovulation isn't on cycle day 14. It is roughly 14 days before cd1. It doesnt matter what cd it is. It matters where ovulation is. In a long cycle, ovulation will be later.

I'm aware of that. In a 35 day cycle, ovulation occurs on day 21. OP's suggestion that she had sex on day 32 makes it much too late.

Plumbibii · 23/12/2023 14:58

Thank you so much for your comments, i really appreciate them.
I have an app installed where i chart my period days and sex days. The only error was where i quoted my CD9 as CD2 (even though my app did say CD9, i don't know why i decided to call it CD2).
Other days CD25 and CD31 are correct as per my app and my cycle days are indeed average between 30-32 days.

Based on your update, when you had sex on Nov 25 (CD9) the sperm hung around until you ovulated (they survive up to 5 days), which would have been around Nov 30 (CD14)...

Basically, the sperm were there waiting for the egg when it dropped :D if you'd had sex even a day earlier, or ovulated a day later, you may have missed the window so definitely meant to be!

Congratulations!!

Plumbibii · 24/12/2023 21:18

Thank you @sykadelic it makes sense. X
