Cycle after chemical

Hi Al,

I had a chemical pregnancy on October 25th and since then my periods (on my second cycle now) have been strange. For the 1st cycle following the miscarriage I got about 7 days of positive OPKs and ovulated around day 16 which is normal for me. (usually get 2 days positive OPK)and my period arrived on day 29 as usual. This cycle i seemed to have ovulated early at around day 12 and my cycle length is only 25 days! This has never in my life happened.

I’m 33, 13 months post partum and usually have periods like clockwork. They’ve been lighter than before since having my son by GP didn’t seem concerned. Had an internal ultrasound today and he said everything looked great.

I’m just wondering could a chemical pregnancy mess up my cycle like this? Should also say, I had the vomiting bug followed by a nasty cold all last week.

There are a long list things that give rise to irregular cycles. I wouldn't be too concerned either. Our bodies aren't perfect machines that run on a perfect schedule .

Viruses will disrupt your cycle and how your body regulates hormones. Covid and the vaccines do it too. I have Long Covid so I'm messed up in every way, had a chemical, got pregnant again soon after, had a horrible pregnancy and dealt with bad hormone problems after, PND, etc. Baby is now 18mo and doing great and I'm starting to feel more myself again. Point being my body can't regulate hormones correctly at all but I had no issues getting pregnant or carrying the baby. I was also 40! So I wouldn't worry too much, our cycles can be crazy but still be very fertile. After my first baby I didn't get a period for over 5 years but somehow had two more babies one that time with no cycle. I don't even know how. So I wouldn't worry, just try to enjoy the TTC process if you know what I mean.

Awh thank you both so much for replying to me. Of course, you are both right. I think I am expecting my body to be this rigid robot and it doesn’t work like that at all.

@flowerchild2000 my goodness, Long covid is no joke. I hope you’re doing ok with that. Similar to you, my hormones away go a bit haywire (have always had terrible PMS, then terrible PND) so I’m guessing that’s exactly what it is. Particularly following the miscarriage not so long ago!

thanks again 💐
