Hey All, my husband and I have been trying to conceive for 6 months now with no luck. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to deal with the emotional side of TTC. I feel so incredibly low every time I take a test or my period arrives and wondered if you had any tips that helped you deal with it at all please?

I don't know if this is the best advice but lots of people will shame you into thinking you shouldn't be sad or stressed. Stop thinking about it, and it will happen!
In my opinion this is bullshit.

My first bit of advice is to let yourself feel sad or stressed from time to time. Acknowledge the feelings and reach out to your OH or someone else you trust. Just saying you feel a bit rubbish and having a hug can help. Don't wallow in it but don't try to push the feeling away.

My second bit of advice is to give yourself another goal to work towards. Since TTC I have done various things (running 100 miles in a month, training for a 10K, embroidery, learning to crochet, joining a book club). It's helpful to have something different to focus on that's not work and doesn't depend on fertility.

Best of luck to you X

Hi @TinyTraveller

Ive also been TTC coming upto 6months. May I ask how old are you, and if you've already visited your Dr for further analysis?

Do you have underlying conditions e.g PCOS or overweight? Taking any supplements?

Are you familiar with your body fertile signs eg change in cervical mucus, and tracking BBT to get better idea when you've ovulated previous cycles?

Thanks so much for getting in touch! I’m 32, about to turn 33 next month. I had some initial blood tests with the doctor but nothing came back as odd. I’ve been on the pill for 17 years so they advised it can take up to 9 months for your body to regulate itself, currently my cycles seem to be more like 38 days!

@TinyTraveller so you know your cycles are around 38days long, which is good. You can try tracking your ovulation pattern by doing things suggested above, if not doing already. This will help identify which days are most fertile and then dtd leading upto ovulation day. My dr even advised to dtd every other day, that way your not missing fertile window.

Did the dr report confirm you are ovulating in cycles?

Have you guys considered getting sperm/semen analysis?
