Are my hcg levels in normal range

I'm worried that my hcg levels are low.
I'm 20dpo and my results were 450.
They aren't doing a second test 48 hrs apart , despite the fact I mentioned I was having bad cramping and my tests weren't getting stronger. They have since got stronger but I'm still wondering if my levels are in a normal range or if this is something I should be concerned about. It seems to suggest this number is on the lower end ?

I don't think anyone in this forum is qualified to advise you on this.

It sounds like you have some anxiety and trepidation which is understandable, but your assigned clinicians are really best place to speak on this. If they have raised any concerns after testing you, then I wouldn't panic.

KLK94 · 16/11/2023 13:40

Why were they testing anyway?
they probably don’t want to keep testing based on your gut feeling when you’re not quite 5 weeks pregnant….. past 9/10weeks they will pay more attention. Just sit back and go with the flow until your first scan, there is nothing you can do to change it in the meantime

@KLK94 I've had multiple miscarriages and this had been a trend with my previous. I had severe cramping and even the gp said it should be mild. I'm now left in the position of not knowing am i pregnant or am I having another loss. I'd rather know either way but I've just been left in limbo

@Outliers well that's the thing. They haven't told me weather this is normal or not. They've done one baseline scan and that's it. I've no idea if that number is increasing or decreasing and I'm left not knowing if I'm having an issue with my pregnancy. The medical professionals have never given me any help or support what so ever during any of my miscarriages so I highly doubt they would pay attention if anything was of concern

Based on you being 20DPO, it sounds like you're within normal range atm. Scroll down to the bottom to see the chart

@MoonstoneAndRoseQuartz you can easily pay for a private hcg test to give you the peace of mind should you want to

Mom2three88 · 17/11/2023 17:52

I'm currently in limbo too ,my HCG at 19dpo was 132 ,then 22dpo 243,getting mixed message from professionals.i so want it to work but I know deep down I'm going to misscarry 😥
The wait is torture,I can't stop crying.
Really hope it works out for you ❤️

PurplePansy05 · 17/11/2023 17:59

Are you under a rainbow clinic, OP? You should be offered an early scan at 6weeks if so (from personal experience). You should also be able to liaise with your clinic and ask for advice now and you should likely be on progesterone and possibly aspirin (but it depends on your history). How many MCs did you have? Sorry to hear about this and the stress you're going through now, it's really tough, I know ❤️ xx

@PurplePansy05 to be honest I've received zero help from my gp. I've been told before that I may be progesterone supplementation via a gynae after my last miscarriage as my progesterone came back low.
My gp point black refused to give me a progesterone test and only gave me one hcg blood and won't even offer me a second to see if its increasing.
I've had to pay for my own private tests which will be done next Wednesday and Friday ( £200) just to know if my pregnancy is progressing or if I've miscarried. I've lost all my pregnancy symtoms so feel very much in limbo

How many previous losses did you have? I would strongly suggest you have a look at NICE guidelines and Tommy's website and read up what you're entitled to on the NHS.

When I was going through it, you had to have 3 consecutive miscarriages to be tested on the NHS, and the NHS doesn't test for all potential causes (e.g. NK cells are still tested only privately). However, if you're entitled to be tested, you should be tested for free and in your circumstances if you're pregnant now, you should receive a referral to your local rainbow clinic which tends to be part of the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit in your local hospital or a dedicated separate unit. I believe the guidelines have changed now and you need 2 consecutive miscarriages to be tested and referred in your following pregnancy, bit it's quite recent so please do check what the latest position is and go back to your GP requesting what you're entitled to. Progesterone should be prescribed as standard especially if you had prior losses and already had tests indicating low progesterone. xx

Mine were only £40 each. So sorry you've had to pay so much x
