BBT and Ovusense wildly different?

I've been tracking my BBT for a couple of months and decided to buy the Ovusense First monitor (which you wear on your arm) so that I don't have to worry about getting up at the same time each morning. I expected there to be a bit of a difference in temp but the results are very different - yesterday my oral thermometer was 36.36 and my Ovusense was 35.77. Then this morning my oral thermometer was 36.42 (not much difference) and my Ovusense was 36.19 (big jump). I started with the Ovusense half way through my cycle (I am CD18 today) and so I'm not going to be able to use it to confirm ovulation, but I am just a bit confused going forward which one I should trust more?

I’ve also found this. It’s a bit odd and I don’t know what to make of it. I know ovusense uses an algorithm which is meant to pinpoint the most “accurate” core temp, and they say they’re reliable, but I’m not too sure.

@graceinc22 I’m not too sure either! I guess OvuSense takes readings throughout the night when you are asleep to give you an average temperature, so will probably be a lower temp than taking your BBT orally because by then you are awake and so your temperature may have risen slightly? It’s just the fact it was such a big jump for me this morning with the OvuSense, and I would only expect that kind of jump after I’ve ovulated? I probably just need to try it for a few more days and see if it works itself out… it’s just expensive so I don’t want to carry on with the subscription if it causes more problems than it solves!

I have the ovucore vaginal sensor, but i'm on the facebook group with women who use both ovucore and ovufirst - from pictures of charts posted on that group, it seems like the ovufirst ones tend to be more 'jumpy'. i think the idea is that the trends still show themselves, i.e. rise in average temps to indicate ovulation, even if the readings day-by-day can go up and down.

@graceinc22 hmmm makes sense - I didn’t realise there was a FB group so I will see if I can join that and hopefully it will give me some clarity!
