Can a lining be too thick for implantation?

Hi ladies,

As my title says, can a uterine lining be too thick for successful implantation and if so, how thick is too thick?

Struggle with ttc and a scan revealed my lining was too thin (5mm) so I was prescribed estrogen to help with thickening. However, my scan on Friday showed that it has increased from 5mm to 16.5mm.

At first I was delighted with this but having spent the weekend reading lots online saying optimal is 9-12mm, I now fear that it may be the opposite of what my initial problem was!

Can anyone shed any light on the mystery of uterine thickness and if there is still a possibility that I could be pregnant this month 😅

This is a question posing to the (fertility) doctor that prescribed your medication.

That said I've never heard of this being an issue.

Just before my frozen embryo transfer I had a scan and my endo thickness was 15.5mm, my clinic said that they thought it was too thick and to cancel for that cycle but I said I wanted to go ahead anyway with transfer. I did a lot of research/reading and felt that it was positive that the thickness was so much and scans can be slightly out with measurements etc.

On the day of transfer It had actually gone down to 10.5mm and I’m currently 29 weeks pregnant.

It is definitely worth a chat with your clinic.

Good luck 🤞
