I have been testing for 2 months and it is clear that I have not ovulated at all. Is there anything you can do yourself to try and change this? Thanks, any advice gratefully recieved

Thanks. I am over weight, not madly but a size 16 to 18. I will try and lose some, I know its probably an issue, I have been burying my head in the sand a bit...

How have you been testing for ov?

Sticks? Cervical mucus? Ov pain? Temperature rise?

There are reflexologists who specialise in conception and pre-conception.

OPK's are not 100% reliable - have you been tracking other signs mentioned above?

Apparently Vitamin E is a good supplement, but I don't say this from a position of experience (yet!)

I've been keeping track of cm for a few months-nothing and been using sticks. Can't get away with temp thing. My body is so crap, nothing bloody comes naturally.

I have never had any luck with sticks. The first time I used them as contraception, which resulted in an unexpected but much loved ds.

Then when contemplating getting pg again, I tried to track my cycle with sticks and got no where with them.

So, I read a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility and learnt to look for other signs. The book is very enlightening and I got pg the first month of trying - and without using sticks!

I must admit I wasn't great with the temperature taking, as I was a bit erratic at taking it. However, I defo saw a pattern.

I would really recommend the above mentioned book as it goes into detail about ovulation signs and shows you how to chart using different ov signs.

Good luck.

ps your body is not crap, you just need some time and help to understand it.

Dont judge non ovulation by test sticks!!
Really.

I was doing one EVERYDAY at 11am,

one night I did a totally random one at 8pm and it was sooo dark a definate +.

By the next day at 11am it was negative again.

I would never have know i OV'd!

Teuch · 11/03/2008 10:09

hear, hear!! DOn't rely solely on OPK's.

However, if you are using them, try and test later in the day (after 2pm) as you metabolise the LH in the morning but it doesn't show in urine until a few hours later.

Around suspected OV, I tested in the afternoon and the late evening and got my strong +ve at 10pm last month. I had faint lines but no +ve with afternoon tests and it went back to faint by the next day...quick surge!

I'm so dopey in the morning, I couldn't take my temp and write it down with any accuracy when I first started. I'd fall asleep and scrawl across the paper.

The boots BBT monitor (about £40) saved me. It beeps to wake me up, then I just shove the thermometer in my mouth until it beeps some more. The temp is recorded accurately (to two decimal places) and I barely have to wake up to do it. Some mornings I'm sure I've forgotten to take my temp, but when I look at the monitor it's there!

May not be the same for you, but getting it sure helped me temp more accurately.

That was my problem, actually! I am so crap and rushed first thing. Thanks for advice, I will definitely give temp taking another try and will get a copy of Taking Charge of your Fertility.
