Got my BFP at 10DPO on 11 October. Do I need to keep testing to watch the lines get darker, or should I just stop? 11DPO and 12DPO also shown in photo.

I had my children over 20 years ago, but we only ever tested to see if we were pregnant. Why would you keep testing (genuine question)?

I don't see much point in keeping testing, line progression isn't indicative of anything. And congrats!

Because so many people on here seem to do it - so I wondered if there was some
science to it!

@Pez1989 Some people get caught up in trying to get a 'dye stealer' where your line is darker than the control. In theory, because your HCG should be roughly doubling every 48hrs, you might see lines getting darker. However the tests aren't designed to do that and some never show great lines anyway.

Last month I did test again 3 days after my (very faint) BFP and the line was still very faint at 18dpo... I was glad I had tested again because it alerted me that it might not be going well. And I did actually have a CP and started bleeding two days later.

Miraculously I have conceived again this month and trying not to get too caught up in agonising about progression. My initial test was far stronger than the one last month. I tested again two days later and not sure I see any progression and wishing I hadn't bothered really and bracing for another possible loss, despite knowing the tests I've used are notorious for poor progression etc 🤷🏼‍♀️ If your first test was a nice line and you can resist, I'd leave it at that! Good luck!

I would stop.

Despite posters on mumsnet obsessing over more and more tests, there is absolutely no indication that your pregnancy is successful with darker lines. I had a blighted ovum (surgical management at 11 weeks) and my tests were ALL “Dye stealers” My lines “progressed” in the usual manner… And there wasn’t even an embryo.

What will be will be.
