Hello all well-versed charters.

Can you help? I have been charting for a year.
I have been diagnosed with PCOS last month, which means I don't ovulate often.

HOWEVER...

My montly charts ALWAYS have that 'bell curve' shape which should indicate ovulation has happened.

So quesstion is....do you think I could be getting the temperature shift without ovulation ACTUALLY happening?

Hi DungunGirl,

If your charts are showing the thermal shift every single month, you most likely are ovulating! I have PCOS too, been charting for 2.5 bloody years, and at least for me the difference between ovulatory and anovulatory cycles is really obvious. I use Fertility Friend, very helpful to identify your own patterns, particularly the chart overlay feature (pinning at ovulation day and coverline).

I found that even with long cycles, I sometimes would ovulate. I think my record is something like day 63--there was a definite temperature shift, clear as day.

From all I've read, it isn't just the ovulating that counts in TTC. If you ovulate too early, you don't have sufficient lining for implantation. If you ovulate too late (as most PCOS'ers do), your endometrial lining won't be fresh enough for implantation (I'm sure there's some medical term for it, just forgotten!). I believe the ideal day for ovulation is day 12-17, and there is a lesser chance of conception if you ovulate outside of that window.

Hope this helps!
