@humanwinginglife apologies for the length of this post…
So when having tests ttc number 1, a fertility doctor we told me that if I insisted on testing early at 8/9dpo to then stop with 10mlu tests at 12dpo because any faint line after that likely wouldn’t end up in a successful pregnancy - a healthy implanted embryo wouldn’t be a squinter by 12dpo on a 10mlu test. So he advised to wait for AF to save myself the heartbreak of chemicals.
It’s to do with cell division being continuous from point of sperm meeting egg, so a 7/8dpo embryo implanting is much smaller than an 11/12dpo embryo trying to implant. It’s why they do IVF transfers with 5-7 day old embryos - if they’re any bigger, they’re much more likely to fail at implantation because they’re just too big. They want the division from like 7/8dpo onwards to be whilst implanting into the lining, to “stick” it stronger.
And those who are testing daily and get that first squinter at 13+ DPO (that ends well) likely ovulated later than they think, and haven’t confirmed ovulation to pinpoint exact date.
I hope that’s helpful - I found it hard to swallow at first, but since then it’s definitely stopped me getting my hopes up, and puts me out of my
misery earlier each month.
Sending love and hope you get your answer♥️
