Dr Rina Davison? Reproductive endo

Has anyone used Dr Davison an reproductive endochronologist based in London? I have a history of recurrent MC and I am hypothyroid with some immune issues thrown in. I need a dr that will take my thyroid levels seriously from a TTC and pregnancy perspective. She looks like she will fit the bill for this as an area of interest to her but I would love some reviews before I pay out privately to see her

Hi there - how did you get on with Dr Davidson? Friend has recommended I see an endocrinologist for fertility reasons (short luteal phase). Have no idea to who to go to however!

bringmearainbow · 13/01/2024 23:26

@aforbes I got on with her very well she listened to my history didn't brush off any of my concerns. I found out I was pregnant a day before my first appointment and she has been great at managing my thyroid throughout I'm currently 15 weeks. I saw her in person for my first appointment and the rest have been telephone appointments which have been great as I'm about an hour away from where she practices. If you decide not to see her make sure you go to a reproductive endo. I saw a different endocrinologist before her and he just didn't know much about thyroid and fertility I think the field is so vast that different drs specialise in different areas. Good luck

@bringmearainbow Hello there – I stumbled across your Mumsnet post whilst searching for some information on Dr Rina Davison. I, too, am considering seeing her. (Congrats on your pregnancy!) My hubby and I have been trying for two years, and had one miscarriage last summer. I have all the symptoms of hypothyroidism and on my last blood test my TSH was 369. My regular GP won't do anything as that result is considered normal as below 4.4. So I've decided to see an endo, but I need to find a really good one that is educated in fertility and female health (I have excessive chin hair, potential PCOS, low ovarian reserve etc). Where did you see Dr. Davison? At The Holly in Buckhurst Hill?

@aforbes Hello there. Did you go to see Dr Rina Davison in the end? I, too, am considering going to see her as she is showing as the best person for my issues. Like you, I have short luteal phase, along with other issues that I really need someone to take seriously. I have slightly high TSH at 369 last test but my NHS GP won't do anything as that's within "normal" range. Though every piece of reading tells you that TSH should be below 2.5 or, better yet, close to 1 for optimal fertility health. If you saw Dr Rina Davison, how did you get on? Did you see her at The Holly? Thanks x

@aggiemay24 sadly most GPs are just not clued up on thyroid and how it relates to fertility. I have had an excellent experience with dr Davison. I first saw her at the holly and since my first appointment I now have telephone appointments as the holly is a bit of a trek for me. I'm almost 30 weeks and she's really looked after me adjusting medication when needed etc

hi both @bringmearainbow @aggiemay24 - I haven't seen her yet (didn't make appointment) but feel I probably should. Two failed transfers so far... no idea why as everything 'normal' (but clearly not).

aforbes · 24/04/2024 11:11

please let me know how you get on with her

aggiemay24 · 24/04/2024 12:24

Thank you @bringmearainbow for coming back to me so quickly on this. I've made an appointment at The Holly to see her end of next month. Fingers crossed I get some answers, especially before we start assisted fertility treatment. We have an NHS appointment at the end of June for that, but may go privately sooner. All my tests are "normal" despite slightly high FSH, so they say I have low ovarian reserve. But they say my TSH is normal. I'm not convinced as have so many symptoms that correlate with under active thyroid.

Looking forward to seeing Dr Davison. Fingers crossed.

Huge congrats on your pregnancy! I'm 40 yo, and never had a child (been trying 2 years), and after one miscarriage last summer, I just hope that we get our baby soon. xx

aggiemay24 · 24/04/2024 12:27

Thanks @aforbes for coming back to me. Much appreciated. I can understand why you've not gone ahead to see Dr Davison, especially as you're under the care of your IVF treatment. I'm sorry it's not worked for you yet, but stay positive. You'll get there. I have a friend where it took 4 goes, others only one try. So everyone is different. We haven't gone down that road, yet, but it's a possibility. I just want to get my body in tip-top health (proper endo diagnosis etc) before embarking on anything. I'm convinced it's because my hormones are out of whack. I conceived last summer but miscarried at 7 weeks. My BBT just wasn't rising. I suspected low progesterone at the time. I feel I need some oomph. I'll let you know how I get on, and best of luck to you if you do another transfer, and on your journey to motherhood generally. xx

thank you @aggiemay24 what a lovely message. And BEST of luck to you too! All things crossed for you! xx

Hello,
I just wanted to give an update to you both.
I recently saw Dr Davison. She was excellent. She has checked my thyroid and it was borderline low, so I have been started on on levothyroxine. I highly recommend her.
She also referred me to an gyne at the same hospital to get some progesterone support as mine is on the lower side of normal.
I am going to that appointment tomorrow.
I've been taking levothyroxine for a week now, so early days. But praying it helps with our TTC journey - 30th cycle now.
Hope your pregnancy is going well Bringmearainbow, you must be nearing your due date now.
Ax
