Conceiving after an ectopic

Hi,

Just wondering if there was anybody on here who was able to conceive quickly after an ectopic pregnancy with tube removal? Did it affect your fertility?

Thank you

Didn't affect my fertility at all. Best of luck

Clarity16 · 20/09/2023 20:56

Thank you. I'm so scared that I won't be able to get pregnant again.

Nope. Didn't impact my fertility. Sorry you've gone through this.

@Clarity16 if it helps I'm in the same boat right now. Ectopic in July. DC took 6m to conceive, then ectopic first try, I'm now 2 cycles in trying again. I only ovulate from my tubeless side so have no idea how that will affect things. I have my follow up in a couple of weeks and going to ask for a hycosy to check my remaining tube.

I got pregnant again and miscarried and then pregnant again and had my son. Fell pregnant first time both times.

Good luck!

Thank you so much. I've just started my first period since having my tube removed last month - definitely feeling very hormonal and weepy! Needed these bits of hope.

Any more stories?
Thanks

@Clarity16 i had an ectopic when I was 19 and lost my tube. I conceived my first (planned) at 24 and it took about a year. My second (planned) at 26 got preg the first month and third (planned) about 6 months.

the interesting thing is that my first I had an internal scan to confirm the preg and that it wasn’t ectopic and the follicle was still there and it was on the ovary that had no tube. So the egg had made its way over to the other tube somehow.

I know it’s the old cliche of not being stressed but I really think with number 1 I was too stressed. I was timing things like crazy and compulsively testing . We tried for almost a year and then I finally went to the dr who said we should investigate and ordered a bunch of tests. We had an overseas family holiday planned in 8 weeks at that point so I decided I would just stop worrying go on my holiday (with a full open bar) and enjoy myself and then once we return do the tests and figure things out. Ended up confirming pregnancy 2 weeks prior to the holiday and completely wasted that open bar 😂. Though as I recall dh more than made up for it.

It took me about a year to conceive my ectopic and had my left tube removed. I fell pregnant on my second cycle trying and had ovulates from my tubeless side! The other tube had picked it up, they're not really far apart like they are in the pics. Best of luck! My son is 2 now. Don't give up hope

I had my right tube removed in January. Husband and I waited the recommended recovery time, which was needed physically and emotionally. We tried for four months, and I'm now 5 weeks pregnant. I'm 39 too, so no spring chicken 😂

Thanks all. Ovulating for the first month after surgery according to sticks, so I'm least not totally broken. Fingers crossed.

TumblingTower · 12/10/2023 19:41

Clarity16 · 12/10/2023 19:45

Thank you.
Sorry hope the ovulation comment didn't come across the wrong way either!

Not at all - I was hoping my comment provided some reassurance.

@Clarity16 how are you getting on? I’m going to hospital tomorrow to discuss options for my current ectopic and think I’ll choose tube removal if offered. Reading stories of hope as we are actively ttc and this was our first pregnancy x
