Subclinical hypothyroidism

So after 5 months of TTC with no luck and only one positive OPK, doc did a full set of bloods that shows I have high TSH (but normal T4). Has anyone else had a successful BFP after being diagnosed with subclinical hypothyroidism? Would love to hear good outcomes!

If your t4 is in normal levels, it shouldn't be a hindrance. I had normal tsh but low t3 and t4 before I got pregnant with my first. I got a private endocrinologist appointment and he started me on thyroxine and as soon as my t3 and t4 were in range, I got pregnant.

This time, my tsh was undetectable, but t3 and t4 were in range when I conceived. They had previously been top end/just above the normal range but I brought the numbers down with diet and lifestyle changes.

Tsh is just a messenger that your pituitary gland produces to tell your body to make t4 (which in turn gets converted to t3). T3 and T4 are the hormones that control your metabolism and if they are in the normal range, you should be fine.

Might be worth investigating why tsh is high though. Did your gp check for thyroid antibodies?

Thanks. There is a strong correlation between high TSH and fertility issues, regardless of the T4 levels, which is also the difference between overt and subclinical hypothyroidism. Perhaps not what you had.

Hey, I'm in the same boat as you. So thought I'd reach out to see if you've had any luck. I've been TTC for 3 months, however I was aware my TSH levels have been abnormally high since at least 2021, after 3 months of unusual bleeding a week before my period, I decided to read up as to what it could be, and I happened to fall upon a few threads about the connection between Hypothyroidism and infertility/issues with concieving/misscarriage, which totally floored me. So I've just had another blood test and my TSH levels have raised again, to 6. GP said they wouldn't usually treat someone at my level, however given that I'm TTC, he's put me on 75micrograms of Levothyroxine.
So I was just wondering how you were getting on? And what your plan of action was. I'm terrified that a) I cant have kids. b) I could be on meds for life. and c) was reading about the correlation of birth defects/learning issues with babies born from someone with a thyroid disorder.

Feeling pretty alone in this journey and hoping for a few happy endings to get me out of this mindset. xxx
