Anyone trying Keto to conceive?

We’ve been trying for over two years with no luck at all, checks say we’re good etc and i thought i might have pcos but i don’t as i’m very regular and have no hormonal issues and ovulate every month.
I. saw a subreddit called keto babies where many women shared success stories about suddenly getting pregnant after trying keto for a few months! Today is cycle day 1 for me so i’m officially attempting it and I do need to lose about 30 pounds as i’m overweight at the minute.
Has anyone else tried this or is thinking about it? Perhaps we can motivate each other! :)

@winterspinach Really good topic. I’ve not tried to conceive doing keto but I’m definitely interested. I need to lose weight too and I’m just in between ivf cycles. My next cycle will be next month and I started a low carb diet on Monday, I did read it’s good for fertility, women who had higher carbs were more likely to have issues.so would be good to hear from women who share their experience, 🤗

👋🏼 just popping in to say I did this having ttc for two years ish first time around. I went v low carb just after Christmas and had my BFP beginning of March, DS is now nearly two! Definitely worth a try imo.
I never went back on contraception after DS was born but still no luck so have just, this month, started low carb again!
Best of luck x

@Hyppyb I think there really may be some truth to this, I hope going low carb really helps you out! If it can help with shifting some weight and helping conceive, that’s two birds with one stone! It’s so hard avoiding the sweet stuff because i’m an addict to chocolate, but I hope it will be worth it in the end! How’s it gone so far for you?

@SherbetLemonn oh wow congrats! That gives me so much hope! Did you do really strict low carb? like keeping it under 50g a day?
Hopefully we get our BFPs soon doing this! I need a lot of motivation!!!

Yes me, tried for 3ish years, low carbed for 3 months weight reasons as i had given up trying, the BFP surprised the hell out of me. Low carbing is hard, but once you lose the craving, it gets easier. Good luck.

Hyppyb · 13/09/2023 20:46

@winterspinach so far so good, I lost a lot of weight a few years ago low carbing so it is easier to jump back into it as I know what expect. Back then it was quite extreme very little carbs, this time round I have around 30 carbs day. I start egg stimulation mid October so hopefully it will produce some good eggs. How many carbs are you sticking to?

CrispAppleStrudels · 13/09/2023 20:57

Yes! I recently did Fast 800 (which is similar to keto). Lost 12kg in 12weeks and got my BFP next cycle. This is my second pregnancy (DD1 is 2yrs old now) but my first ever natural conception in 5years of TTC. So im a big believer in it now!!

Yes, pretty strict, I think below 50g was my target. Really hope it works out for you!!

Namechangeforthisone2023 · 13/09/2023 23:31

Keto has definitely helped me with thrush, hormonal acne and endometriosis so it makes sense that it would also boost fertility. I’d be up for starting this with you.
I prefer low carb as it’s a bit less strict.
i have been on and off this for the past year but will give me another reason to stick with it if I think my fertility could improve slightly

winterspinach · 13/09/2023 23:43

@BlueisthenewGrey congrats! I tell ya it’s really ramping me up hearing so much of this proof that it could really work. My weakness are carby tasty treats, once i’m over the initial hump of cravings i hope i’ll be okay!

@Hyppyb I’m sticking to under 50 to begin with and will then start to bring it down. just thankful i can have some cream in my coffee or tea otherwise i don’t know what i’d do!
Hopefully you get some grand eggs and this helps with it!

@Namechangeforthisone2023
I did it for about a week early this year and the change was immediate but i slipped back into old habits. It’s an amazing diet for sure but the willpower it takes! today was Day 1 for me and i still went slightly over my carb limit but hoping to do better tomorrow. It would be great to have someone to do it alongside with!

@winterspinach there is a new low carb boot camp which started this week on here. Come join us if you want some company - it's always the first couple of weeks which are hardest. Once the sweet cravings and hunger disappear it's so much easier!

Fingers crossed it works for your ability to conceive 🤞

I'll try and post a link.....

winterspinach · 14/09/2023 02:53

@SummerSazz I have just joined it thank you! that’s such good timing, it’s nice knowing that there’s others trying the same thing whether it’s to lose weight or conceive. i’m at such odds at what to have for breakfast, i never realised how much carbs there is in so many foods

@CrispAppleStrudels wow congrats!! i’ve ever never heard of fast 800 but will look into it, so glad it worked for you, it gives me a lot of hope

While I was doing Exante meal replacement diet, quite a few posted about a suprise pregnancy as had been trying for a while unsuccessfully some were wanting to lose for IVF, so think there is something in it. It's lowish carb rather than keto but used to have a very low calorie plan too which would put most into ketosis.

Namechangeforthisone2023 · 14/09/2023 07:26

Boiled eggs and butter is my breakfast fav
also strawberries and full fat Greek yogurt with chopped nuts

winterspinach · 14/09/2023 08:43

@Namechangeforthisone2023 greek yogurt with berries sounds delicious i may try that one! I found some sugar free maple syrup, hoping that will make it a bit tastier

winterspinach · 09/12/2023 21:53

@Cloclo93 hi! so sorry for the late reply. I actually just got my BFP! I was supposed to start keto when my period came and it just didn’t come haha. I’m quite shocked but also sending positivity and baby dust your way! definitely try it! 💗
