It almost sounds like a recipe gone wrong!! I had my CD12 TVS on saturday and was told that the follicles i had (4 in total - is that normal??) were too small and for the stage o was at the uterine lining was too thin to sustain a pregnancy.
Now what i want to know is why did my doctor make us wait a year instead of starting me off on the scan? Why would he have prescribed clomid? And is there any way we can address the thing uterine lining? I know of hsg injections for maturing eggs but anyone with any info on thin uterine lining? I get my bloods back today but i am just desperate to know what is going on!

Hi rmm

Do you actually have a diagnosis of the underlying problem?.

Am no expert of course but such problems can be caused by a condition called polycystic ovaries. This is where the ovaries have multiple cystic follicles on them, some of these follicles are dormant, others contain hormones and some contain an egg.

Clomid is often given to women who present with PCO BUT it is not always a suitable treatment for such women and thus careful monitoring should be done. Also the best people to prescribe this are gynaes as such problems are often outside a GP's remit.

I've always had irregular periods (cause PCOS) and was thus referred earlier to a gynae after six months of ttc without success.

If you have not already been referred to a gynae at a subfertility unit I would ask your GP to refer you now as a matter of urgency. You should be seen anyway and regularly by a cons gynae at such a unit.

BTW do you know what your LH, FSH and progesterone levels are like?. If these are awry which is likely then not enough progesterone will be produced hence the lack of uterine lining.

Hi Rmm

Clomid can make your lining thin (it did for me) and it can take a while for follicles to grow (how big were they?)

Speak to your consultant (and if you are under GP supervision discuss a referal).

Just in case it is not the clomid causing the thin lining I'd suggest your speak to a specialist fertility acupuncturist (if you are in the London or Windsor area try Daniel Elliot and team). Acupuncture can improve blood flow to the uterus and was helpful in improving my lining thickness during IVF. (I was second time lucky & just had 20 week scan)

Hope this helps and good luck

Hi Attila - i have no idea if i have an underlying problem. We had dd without any problems and so i assumed it would be the same the second time around.
We've been trying for a year and nothing yet.
We are going to see the gyno today - i live in africa and we see the gyno straight away instead of going through a gp, but when we saw him 6 months agao he said that i just need to relax and give it some time.
Now i feel as though i've wasted time and i still have no idea whats wrong! But i know something isnt right. Does that sound completely crazy??!!
On CD3 my Fsh levels were 3.5 and LH was 3.2 and E2 was 82. But on CD12 my E2 levels had dropped instead of rising(hmm)
Choc congratulations!!
I had clomid for 2 cycles 3 months ago without any monitoring and the follicals were 8.53mm on the right and there were 3 on the left and the biggest was 5mm.
