Hi - looking for some advice/reassurance. There’s probably a million posts like this but wondered if anyone had any similar tales

I’ve been TTC now for 8 cycles and I’m in my 2 week wait of my 9th. I have multiple health conditions - Lupus, hypothyroidism and type 1 diabetes. All my medication has been changed so that it’s all safe for pregnancy.

I’ve had blood tests done to check my thyroid is OK as I know this can be a factor in fertility issues. I’ve had my hormone levels checked which all seem okay and I’ve had a basic ultrasound to check my uterine lining thickness is okay etc. all fine. I’m ovulating regularly I think as I’m getting positive OPKs around CD12 or 13 and I’m having 26-30 day cycles

I have however abused my diabetes in the past for long periods out of pure stupidity - weight loss purposes mainly.

basically I’m just wondering if anyone has has either been in or known anyone with similar conditions or in a similar situation and how long it took to conceive and what obstacles you faced??

TIA xx

I am type 2 and the advice I received was to ensure its being well managed and that sugar levels are under control. Diabetes in itself dosent prevent you getting pregnant but I was told it can affect implantation if not managed.
I had a pregnancy that didn't stick, could be for numerous reasons but my diabetes wasn't under control at the time so my advice is make sure your attending any appointments for bloods .
I have a friend who is type 1 and she had no difficulties conceiving and no concerns throughout her pregnancy

I would think Lupus more than the diabetes. I have type 1 and had no problem conceiving in my 40s, but a 30 year old with Lupus had difficulty, though she did have two babies in the end.

Thanks for your replies!

@MoonlightDreamer my blood sugar has been well controlled for the past 9 months but was previously off the scale terrible but I’ve really put the work in this year. How long did your friend take to conceive if you don’t mind me asking?

@mondaytosunday yes there’s not much info out there about difficulties conceiving with lupus. My bloods are all really good since starting the new meds and on paper I’m in a good place for conceiving it’s just unfortunately not happening. I worry that the combination of illnesses is the problem. My body just obviously doesn’t work correctly and maybe it just can’t do this either ☹️ I’ve been referred to a fertility centre but the waiting list is 7 months so I guess I’ll have to just wait it out
