Advice/Tips for trying to conceive

Hello! I am 32 years old and stopped my oral birth control at the start of this year (February 2023). My husband and I have been actively trying to conceive for over 6 months. We have yet to be successful and we are, obviously, outside the 1 year window needed prior to having any testing done. I have been using Premom ovulation strips and seem to peak on day 13-14 of my 28 day cycle. We are having sex usually the 3 days prior and then on the predicted day of ovulation based on my peak. We are also using PreSeed lubricant. My husband nor I have any history that we know of that would indicate infertility but when you're trying to conceive and it doesn't happen immediately it's hard not to become frustrated. I am just looking for any other suggestions or tips that may have helped you become successful in your attempts to conceive. Thank you, guys!

I made sure I was on the bottom at fertile times, and slid a pillow under my bum after.

Are you taking any supplements?

Both of you look after yourselves, right nutrition, supplements, exercise, low stress. Reduce alcohol and caffeine. Stop smoking/drugs.

Have sex regularly (every other day) from end of period until ovulation, then every day til (2 days?) Afterwards - others on here are better at this.

The consultant I saw at a fertility clinic when we went for MOT said not to bother with pressed.

Missionary or doggy are best positions to conceive apparently.

Keep having fun with each other - don't make sex a chore.

Go on holiday and reduce stress levels as much as possible.

This! When I relaxed and stopped worrying and timing, but instead starting seducing my DH because I was feeling like it around ovulations dates... it worked.

Also perhaps look into co-q10. I started taking it with better quality TTC supplement and got pregnant two months later after trying for 2.5 years. My BMI was high though so I did 16:8 at the same time so not sure what was making the difference.

My parents tried for three years to conceive me. When my neighbour said she was having trouble my mother told her to drink a bottle of cherry brandy and have sex on top of the wardrobe. I’m not sure my neighbour took the advice literally but it worked. Basically, you need to relax.

Assuming you're both a healthy weight and eat nutritiously? Being overweight CAN really mess with your hormones.

Six months is actually not too long though. You only have something like a 1 in 4 chance on any one cycle, even if you are completely normally fertile. Coming off the pill can also mess you up for a few months and many people take awhile for their hormones to regulate again. I wouldn't worry yet.

Do you mean that you're having sex only on ovulation day -3 and on the day itself, or on each of the three days preceding as well as the day itself? In the first case you're missing the two best days for conception, so get going!

Are you charting your temperature? How long after the ovulation strip peak is it going up? A while since I've done this, but when I used to chart I found that it was always at least three days from the LH peak to a temp rise. Given that it was also usually 16, even 17, days from the LH peak to my period, I assumed that I was ovulating 48 hours or more after a positive test. This was proven with the conception of my second, because my husband was working away and only came back about 36 hours after the peak!
