Evaporation lines or positive test

I have seen so many of these posts and I'm assuming it will be bad news for myself..
However just looking for some other opinions!

We have been TTC and I did an early detection test yesterday and another today... both appeared negative at first but then a blue line started to appear around 15 minutes...

I thought it was a positive yesterday and got so excited but then started to read all about the evap lines on clear blue tests so ended up doing another test at 4am this morning as couldn't wait any longer. Same thing again, nothing happened and then faint blue line appeared about 15 minutes later.

What do you think? Thank

That looks like a line to me OP! Can you get hold of a pink dye test just to be sure? Fingers crossed for you!!!

Rosieposie0301 · 21/08/2023 11:19

Hey, if it didnt come up within the timeframe stated then i wouldnt count it as a positive just yet. The line on the second doesnt look convincing. How many dpo are you?

WaitingForLittleSunflower · 21/08/2023 11:31

I'm 6DPO. I have a short cycle, usually 24 ish days. I've started having cramps in my lower stomach so thinking they could be the start of my period:(

If it's 15 minutes later, tread with caution. CB are awful for evaporation lines - I've been caught out myself with them.

LacedBouquet · 21/08/2023 13:30

I think these might be evap lines, do you have any red dye tests? 6DPO would also be too early to pick up on a test (if you’re certain you are 6DPO).
The giveaway with the evaps on a clear blue is a dark thin line on the left. The positive lines are normally even distribution of colour and much thicker. On yours you have that thin dark line on the left side of that ‘line space’

6 DPO is very early to test OP, it might not of even implanted yet.

Were the photos taken within the time frame?

I suspect you are correct, I've ordered some red dye from amazon which will hopefully arrive soon!
I have been using Clearblue ovulation tests and had a Peak Fertility 7 days ago so assumed that would make me 6DPO? I am due on my period in 4 days and the Early tests say they can detect up to 6 days before missed period?
I'm hoping my timing is off but I think it is more likely that it hasn't happened this month as I am having my usual PMS cramping today :(

Hi, yes they were taken today and yesterday. I have a 25 day cycle usually so due on my period in 4 days and the Clear Blue say they can detect up to 6 days before period starts?
I got a Peak Fertility on my Clearblue ovulation test 7 days ago so figured that would make me 6DPO?

When they say 6 days before a missed period they are basing this on the average cycle

So this would mean from around 9 DPO they could detect a pregnancy

LacedBouquet · 21/08/2023 14:29

@WaitingForLittleSunflower Yes so you ovulate 24-48 hours after peak which would make you 5/6DPO! I’m 6DPO today too 😊
It sounds like to me you have a shorter luteal phase- they should be 12-14 days long and mine are normally 8 days so this month I’ve started progesterone suppositories!
How it works is the embryo forms day 1-4 after ovulation in your tubes and then enters your uterus on day 5. It starts to implant days 6-8 on average and can take a few days after implantation to get to a HCG concentration enough to detect on a pregnancy test. Normally the earliest you could possibly get a very faint line on a test is 9DPO x

Rosieposie0301 · 21/08/2023 14:49

Oh if you’re only 6dpo then it is highly unlikely anything would show on a pregnancy test. You’d need to wait to about 9/10dpo to be sure.

Thanks all so much! I feel like I have a little hope left! Just praying I don't start my period 🙏

Thanks so much! So helpful! Can I just ask what the progesterone suppositories do?

@WaitingForLittleSunflower Let us know how you get on with the red dye, hopefully you get a vfl 😊
So when you ovulate, the follicle that contains the egg becomes a cyst called a corpus luteum that secretes progesterone. Progesterone is the hormone that supports your lining, helps the embryo implant into your uterus and supports the pregnancy until the placenta takes over at 12 weeks.
This corpus luteum only lives for 12-14 days and once it dies, the progesterone stops and you get your period. If you’re pregnant, the HCG rescues it and it continues secreting progesterone until 12 weeks.

If you have a short luteal phase (less than 12 days) then normally that’s due to the corpus luteum not living for as long as it should and not secreting enough progesterone. That can cause you to early miscarry or not be able to properly implant an embryo.

Progesterone supplementation helps your body keep a pregnancy if you have a short luteal phase.

Im on cycle 4 ttc and had an early loss both on cycle 1 and cycle 3 ttc likely due to my low progesterone so fortunately I got some prescribed to try this cycle 😊

That's really helpful, thank you! I'm so sorry to hear about your losses, and I really hope the progesterone does what it needs to to help this time :) good luck
