Hi all, I'm ttc following a mc at 11w3d and then a chemical pregnancy a few months ago. This month I've been feeling like I could be pregnant.. had a couple of dizzy spells, feeling very tired at times in the middle of the day. But I also feel like I won't really know because I'm now over thinking everything! My cycle is usually 27 days, today I'm on day 29. I spotted yesterday (which I did with previous pregnancy), nothing today and so far, no positive test. What's the likelihood of being pregnant and not testing positive yet?

Sorry to hear about your losses x

Hiw recent was the mc? If it was recent, it can mess your next cycle up which may be why it's a bit longer.

Do you know when you ovulate at all? Hcg is produced following implantation, which is 6-12 days after ovulation, so it's possible you are pregnant and don't have enough hcg yet. It's also possible that you just ovulated later this cycle (or haven't ivulated yet at all if the mc was very recent)

When you can test positive depends on three things:

  1. When you implanted
  2. How much base beta hcg is in your system (usually between 1-5 for most women but can be under 1)
  3. How quickly hcg doubles (36-72 hours is considered normal I believe)

Some women can get bfp really early and some take longer.

If you implant 9dpo (most common days are 8, 9 and 10) and have a base of 1 and hcg doubles roughly every 48 hours it would take roughly 6-7 days (so 16dpo) to show up on a 10miu test.

If you implant earlier and/or your base is higher, it will show up sooner. If you implant later and/or your base is lower, it will take longer to show up.

You can keep testing every 2 days until either you get a positive or your period shows up.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply! Mc was end of April, the following cycle was a chemical pregnancy. June and July my cycles were 27 days. I don't track ovulation as I don't want to stress about it, we're just 'trying' every 3 days all month.. Will try testing again on the weekend if af hasn't showed by then.
