AMH - massive confusion!

We have started fertility investigations last year, and had the following AMH results from the local NHS hospital:

  • 8.7 pmol/L in Jun 22
  • 3.1 in pmol/L Jul 23
We were then advised to seek IVF treatment privately as the last result is too low for NHS funding. We went to a private clinic and the AMH result came back as 13.3 pmol/L yesterday. I am so confused, how can I have all these different results? For reference my age is 32.

Hi,

AMH tests are awful. It can change month to month and many things like low vitamin D or thyroid issues (and more) can affect the accuracy. I would go for an AFC. An AFC is far more accurate. I had an AMH that said I had 0.33pmol. I had two AFC's and my egg reserve is great. The AMH was completely inaccurate.

Hi, yes I agree it’s complete bonkers. We would be eligible for IVF on the NHS if it wasn’t for my result of 3.1.
