Hi there, I am 41 in a few weeks and have a 2yr old. We’re trying for #2 but pretty much since as soon as we decided to my periods have been very irregular. I’m assuming it’s perimenopause and so looking for tips on how to track ovulation.

I’ve tried bog standard sticks and have never have a positive - even when pretty sure I have based on other signs. Anything I have to do at the same time every day is out so have been looking at wearable bbt devices but they are pricey and not sure how useful they will be.

Going to try acupuncture and look at diet etc but interested in any thoughts on more scientific ways of tracking an irregular (and dwindling) cycle.

If you don’t think you can temp at the same time every day I would probably look into a wearable. There’s the Ava I think and Ovusense?
with OPKs I thought I never got a positive then bought a massive pack of cheap ones and just tested 3x a day for a whole cycle to try and get a baseline.
ofc it is possible that you are having some anovulatory cycles in which case the Opk wouldn’t test positive.
I am 37 and have similar issues.
Could you go to the Gp and ask for hormone tests to see what those are like?

I did speak to the gp 2 weeks ago who suggested a blood test on day 21 to check for ovulation. My last cycle was 62 days though and if I did ovulate I think it was around day 49 so not sure that’s the right advice.
