Miscarriage

I've had two miscarriages in 6 months one at 10 weeks that was a mmc and then I've just had a normal miscarriage at 11 weeks. I don't understand why I'm having so many problems suddenly with having babies not wanting to stick. Has anyone tried anything that has helped ?

Do you have any children at all? I had two miscarriages between my two children.

Unfortunately 2 miscarriages in a row isn't all that uncommon. Make sure you're eating a healthy diet (Tommy's website has information on what is good for fertility in your general diet) and take pre-conception vitamins. Make sure you're doing regular exercise too. There's not a heap more you can do to enhance your chances of a baby sticking (I'm in the same situation, 2 MMCs, just waiting to start ovulating again before we try again!). You can also ask your GP to get your thyroid function tested (something the midwife at the EPU suggested to me). Fingers crossed you get your rainbow soon x

I took aspirin after my two losses and third one stuck!

Check your prolactin levels when you get your bloods for you thyroid also. My MMC was unexplained, followed by infertility and some odd symtpoms here and there. Looked alot like thyroid was out of whack but kept coming back fine until a doctor suggested checking my prolactin levels which were significantly raised and highly likely the cause of my MMC and infertility x

Also, I have a healthy 5 year old who was conceived by accident so we had no idea of any issues x

moosey89 · 24/07/2023 21:14

@Ttcmumma what can you do about prolactin levels/did it result in a healthy pregnancy after?x

Gjb23 · 25/07/2023 07:04

I have a 5 year old already. Xx

Oh really. I'm going to be completely dumb but how does aspirin work to help?

Great, you have a three year old so you know you are capable of having a baby. Keep trying. Third time lucky!

whosaidtha · 25/07/2023 08:54

@Gjb23 it does something to your blood. I'm not sure how it helps scientifically. But I'd read loads of people had had success taking it and thought it couldn't hurt. I don't even know if it helped or if it's just coincidence but my baby stuck that time. Good luck.

In regards to the other poster and aspirin, I looked into it myself and it's a blood thinner. It's usually advised to be used after week 12 for a while to help prevent those at high risk of gestational diabetes. Supposedly it doesn't help in regards to miscarriage and isn't advised before 12 weeks but who knows really! May have been a coincidence for @whosaidtha or it could have been exactly what she needed! Hard to say.

In regards to my comment on prolactin, the doctor will advise what to do dependant on how high it is (if it is high) so at the moment mine is 700, which apparently up to 4 or 5 hundred is normal. They said there isn't much they can do to help me besides advise I reduce my stress, however I've got a follow up blood test to see if it's increasing or decreasing. If it's increasing they can medicate and need to do brain scans etc as you can get begnin tumours in the pituatry gland. Pretty sure it's basically dopamine tablet they give you to lower the levels and shrink the tumour if it is at that stage. No so far I haven't even been able to successfully concieve since my loss in January but I have only just worked out the prolactin issue in the past month so hoping to turn it all around soon!
