Anyone ever changed their diet and got a BFP?

Been ttc for about a year now, we are waiting for a doctors appointment to see if anything is going wrong but keen to address anything we could do differently as well. Mainly I seem to start spotting about 8 days after ovulating and my luteal phase is already quite short at 11 days so I’m wondering if this is the problem.

I’m wondering if anyone has found improving/changing/adding something to their diet to help? I don’t smoke, drink too much and I’m a healthy weight but is there anything anyone believes has worked for them?

It could be a coincidence so see if there's a consensus but I started a pared down version of it starts with the egg, it's low GI so cut out potatoes etc, and I swapped my lunchbox tupperware to glass, water bottle to stainless steel, cut out drinks in plastic, as recommended in the book - didn't go as far as taking all the supplements, just stuck with normal conception ones - and caught 3 weeks later.

@Highlandcooo I completely changed my diet this year. I cut out processed food, focused on upping my protein, switching carbs to healthier ones such as sweet potatoes and wholegrain rice (and eating less of them in general) and eating a wide range of fruit and veg and started having bone broth. I got Zita West's book Eat Yourself Pregnant – although didn't follow all the recipes as some were quite complicated – and a couple of Emma Gannon's books (got them all on World of Books second hand). I started taking liver capsules. I also tried to use less plastic like @Natty83 and switched to natural skincare stuff and got a water filter jug thing. DP also ate walnuts everyday for three months too after we read they improve motility in sperm.

Got my BFP yesterday but wasn't trying before so have nothing to compare it too. Have no idea whether any of it contributed but I do feel so much better and healthier in general. I have way more energy and my skin has also been really clear. But having said all this I do think there are a lot of people out there trying to make loads of money off the back of people who are struggling and feeling desperate and low (e.g. Zita West sells supplements which are extortionate and the website makes you feel like you'll never get pregnant unless you fork out for them).

I completely cut out alcohol and caffeine. Can't say that was what did it but it might have helped, who knows.

I finally conceived when I got to a healthy weight. But you're already at a healthy weight - I'd say your diet is probably not a limiting factor in your case?

I also couldn't conceive when I was in my last job, an unhappy and stressful workplace. Then moving to my current workplace I got to a healthy weight easily and conceived. So is there any stress in your life or dh's that could be removed?

I think weight and stress (anecdotally) are big factors for a lot of people who take a long time to conceive

Cutting out processed carbohydrates, half an hour walking per day.
Both times I fell pregnant.

I got to a healthy weight and ate more sensibly - more diversity on the plate such as fruit, veggies, nuts, grains

and followed a pared down version of ziti wests plan

I did get pregnant but no idea if the diet helped - but it did make me feel stronger and more prepared for pregnancy etc

No idea if it helped but I quit caffeine completely

FoodFann · 16/07/2023 21:34

I switched to whole milk 🤷🏼‍♀️

I did a low carb diet for a year to help my DH lose weight which I didn't realise at the time was actually gluten free, I was about to do my fifth IVF and I was undiagnosed coeliac, I wasn't diagnosed for another ten years

Have you tried Agnus castus? Also called Vitex. It's an old remedy but it can work! Read up on it and helping TTC.
I used a tincture from A Vogel from local health food shop but it's in some ttc vitamin tablets too

Good luck!
