Endometriosis and ivf

I haven't officially be diagnosed but it's suspected. I had a fluid filled tubed ans they suspect it may have been causes by endo but the hsg dye tubes were clear one month later. I told him I've been having alot period pain all month long.
My last scan they also think I've a cyst in my ovary. They pondered if I should go for surgery laparoscopy as said " I wonder if there could be a bit of endometriosis " but they said they won't go ahead with surgery now because I'm already on waiting list for ivf.
I'm just wondering has anyone been through this and could share some advice. Do they generally proceed with ivf without clearing out the endo ? I've already had one chemical that I've suspected didn't implant and I'm worried it could be endo in my lining.
How does endo impact ivf success

Not been through it personally but a friend has (she's not on MN unfortunately or I'd point her here). In her case they dealt with the endo before proceeding with IVF, but whether that's standard practice or it just happened that way I don't know. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Endo treatment was on the NHS I believe but they funded IVF privately (partly because they lost YEARS waiting for diagnosis of endo got fobbed off for 7 years & didn't want to wait goodness knows how long for IVF so took out a loan for it) whether it makes a difference if you're private or not again I don't know. Wishing you luck x

Hey @HowlingAtTheM00n
how are you getting on?
im currently being seen by Bill Smiths Gyno for endo and adeno.. havent decident whether to do a laproscoph yet we have 1 more scan with Bill
I am also at Evewell private clinic and had 2 failed FETs which I’m putting down to implantation failure from the endo but this hasn’t been confirmed.

i was looking for a thread cos I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed and wanted someone to share the experience

thanks

I'm not going through IVF but I do have endo so hopefully this will be a little bit of help to you. If you have a local support group, I would join is as the girls will be so knowledgeable and one of them will probably have experienced what you're going through. What I know from my group and also my consultant is that the best time to try and get pregnant is after you've had your excision surgery (and healed from it obviously) because it's the clearest anyone will be on what's going on inside. So if at that point you do have trouble conceiving, they can immediately rule out the endo causing it and look into other things. It does seem mad to me that they wouldn't want to do the laparoscopy first.

I had x2 endo ops before ivf. And one after I had my son as I’d grown another cyst on my ovary during pregnancy.

IVF went like a dream and worked first time, which was very lucky. They originally told us it would lower chances quite a bit, but that didn’t seem to be the case.

I’ve been told to wait the results of my first laparoscopy next week before the NHS fertility consultant can say if IVF is recommended, laparoscopy is with Bupa. NHS have asked if the Bupa surgeon can check my fallopian tubes aren’t blocked while they are in there so I guess that’s going to be a big factor, you might have already had that checked out as part of your investigations. I’ve also heard the best chances of getting pregnant are when the endo is clear as possible but I haven’t got that far yet- wishing you the best of luck!

I actually wanted to update this thread m and say my IVF transfer was successful, and I’m now 14 weeks pregnant. This was 2 months after my laporoscopy. I’d previously had 2 failed euploid transfers, 2 early miscarriages and 3 years of TTC.

they only found very early stage endometriosis and since the surgery I was pain free for the first time in years.

I went to bill smiths to confirm it was endo. And then went private for the laporoscopy which cost A LOT (around £6k in total)!
