Heya, after mcc in January I've been crazy about tracking everything which just makes me more anxious, last month Proov pdg tests was negative and this month weak ovulation, so 2 pos and then 2 negative.
By a big surprise a got a very faint line yesterday and today on preg test!
Now looking to get on progesterone supplements but GP said I better go to a private clinic as nhs might take a while and might not even give it as I've had 1 mcc. Anyone got experience with nhs vs private for the supplements?
Worried that the tests showed weak progesterone so really worried it will end in mc again

@RoseH36 not yet, I haven't got pregnant since! I took a 3 month break after the miscarriage in November, had a chemical pregnancy in May so hoping I get pregnant soon 🙈 dr said to start the progesterone the minute I get a positive! Also gave me steroids and aspirin x

RoseH36 · 18/06/2023 19:19

I hope you get your positive soon! I'm not sure whether mine was a chemical or not and how I'd know and if that's classed as a mc or not, so confusing! I only found out around 10 days ago I was pregnant and then started bleeding on Thursday, so I was around 4 and a half weeks. A test yesterday had the faintest of lines so cancelled the scan I was due to have tomorrow. Was told to test end of next week and any sign of a line means I need a scan.

@RoseH36 aw I'm so sorry, it's so difficult. Were your tests getting stronger until the bleeding started? 😫

RoseH36 · 19/06/2023 10:53

@Daniki no idea, I tested when I found out. Then a week later I did another test but that was late afternoon, very diluted urine and didn't really need the loo so took ages to get enough on it. That had a line but was a bit fainter. I put it down to not waiting and using FMU so had planned to wait a couple of days and test again but by then it was too late. It was also a different brand of test which may have made an impact too. So who knows really.

babypleasenow · 19/06/2023 14:01

Hi really sorry to jump on this but I was wondering if lower progesterone would stop me getting pregnant? I had bloods done and they said I may not have high enough progesterone to support a pregnancy. I have been off contraception for over 3 years and I've never once fallen pregnant. We have unexplained infertility and that's the only ever thing that's come up but the fertility clinic were never concerned about this, it was from the gp that this suggestion came from. Xxx

Hankthehonk · 19/06/2023 14:27

@babypleasenow It's certainly possible, are you still a patient with the fertility clinic? You could ask them to investigate it further?

I am still a patient. We're due to do ivf this year, but I'd loooove to fall naturally Ofc so I'm really trying to do some research on how I could. If I had a problem with creating enough progesterone to fall pregnant, what could they do? As I'm only really aware of people having low progesterone but falling pregnant and having miscarriages as a result. But I've never had the chance!

Hankthehonk · 19/06/2023 14:33

Sorry I've no idea but it is definitely worth asking about! Maybe they could help with supplements or something. Good luck!

RoseH36 · 20/06/2023 07:59

@babypleasenow so sorry to hear you've been trying so long. Absolutely low levels could be a cause, I've been doing quite a bit of reading into it and it's an important hormone for helping things to implant properly. Having now gone through 2 mc (potentially 3 as my son could have been a twin and we lost one) I'm now waiting to speak to the doctors to see if I can try supplements in case my levels are dropping in the first few weeks and that's what's causing my mc.

vvit · 24/06/2023 09:43

If anyone pick up and is in the same situation.
As soon as I got that very early very light second line I contacted private gynaecologist, got a phone consultation and he prescribed me progesterone.
NHS won't do it until after 6 weeks scan, I had my early scan with nhs and spoke to the nurse and she said it's amazing that I did that as it's very important to start to take it early, so for me not to spend more money as I have to take it until 12 weeks and it costs about £30 per week, they have made a perception for me now as I only took first two packets out of my private prescription as you never know what will happen I found wasteful to take 8 weeks if baby doesn't stay with us.

I don't know using helping but makes me feel that I'm doing something extra. It does make you more tired and gassy but should go away when your body gets used to it

I finally fell pregnant after my fourth round of IVF. Currently just over 11 weeks. I had a few changes to my last cycle but one of the key changes involved progesterone. On the fourth cycle I had a progesterone test on transfer day and my progesterone was very low. I was already on two 400mg pessaries a day but they said some people don't absorb that way so also gave me progesterone injections daily called lubion. I'm not saying that definitely what made the change but I feel it's had a huge impact x

ABLOSSOM · 23/07/2023 09:08

Hi @Laurens95 I am in the exact same position as you. Tested with Proov yesterday and today (7/8 DPO) and got a positive with v v v v v faint line - but confused as website says any line is a negative. I was worried as both of my "charts" show 5 and not 7 so worried the levels aren't high enough for a pregnancy.

I just wondered how you got on and if you for your BFP?

Laurens95 · 23/07/2023 09:19

@ABLOSSOM It’s all very confusing, i’m not sure if you have to use them for more than 1 cycle to get your baseline like you do with OPK’s possibly? I stopped using them as I felt it was causing more anxiety and stress!
We haven’t got our BFP yet unfortunately, i’m 2dpo today though so back into our 2ww again and have everything crossed 🤞🏻 x

ABLOSSOM · 23/07/2023 09:20

@Laurens95 yes I am already feeling the same. I might stop tracking BBT and PDG and just stick to OPK's as I'm driving myself mad googling and thinking of things all day!!

We've been TTC #1 for a year and just really want to see a BFP. Fingers crossed for you!

Laurens95 · 23/07/2023 09:28

@ABLOSSOM That’s honestly how I was, i’ve started to relax abit now and just do the clearblue opk this month.. I think stress definitely has a negative impact! It also feels like everyone around me is pregnant right now which isn’t helping 😂 Best of luck to you and I have everything crossed that you finally get your BFP! Keep me updated!🤞🏻✨x

Sorry to jump on this thread but where did you get a private prescription of progesterone from please?

LacedBouquet · 31/07/2023 20:03

Hi girls this is such an interesting thread! I have a short luteal phase (8-10 days) so I started using Proov two cycles ago and I didn’t get a positive the whole time until I got a positive pregnancy test. First three photos show that. I sadly lost that pregnancy at 4W5D.

I’m now on my second cycle trying since the miscarriage and this time bizarrely I got a positive at 4DPO?! I can’t work out whether it was a fault test but so strange! I’ve started acupuncture as well this week to see if I can try and increase my luteal phase. Currently 8DPO.

Would also love to try and get hold of progesterone! Might try a private gynaecologist if that has worked for you OP!
BD to you all xx

@Gb1234 and @LacedBouquet I emailed few gynaecology surgeries and managed to get appointment was about £280 and he made a prescription. I only just then found out so was 4 weeks, I got a private scan via nhs at 6 weeks because of previous mc so when I said I got I private prescription (I only have bought enough for two weeks then) they gave me progesterone on nhs. I'm taking it up to 12 weeks but they have given me way more then I need, as I think they gave me 10 week supply not 6 week.
I can check how much do I have left over and can post it so you don't have to go private for those couple of weeks until nhs would prescribe it. It's so silly that they wouldn't do it before 6 week scan as there is such a big chance of loosing baby before that. They only just changed their progesterone policy to one mc few months ago.

Well done you for fighting for what's right for you! I'm so so pleased you were able to find a consultant in the first place.

Congrats on baby by the way!

Oh my god. That would be amazing if you could please. I will deffo by it off you as a safety net until six weeks. I've read the research from Tommy's etc and it could save so many pregnancies but they won't give it before six weeks. Disgusting.

RoseH36 · 01/08/2023 07:40

That's just awful if they won't prescribe it before 6 weeks! I've got a phone appointment with the recurrent mc clinic this afternoon so be interesting to see what they say as I was hoping to try this as a first step but doesn't sound like it will happen.

Well it definitely seems to just depend where you live as the specialist I've spoken to this afternoon has prescribed progesterone to start taking as soon as I get a positive result. Didn't even bring it up in conversation, it was mentioned as part of their routine to try and see what's going on.

Ah was it on nhs? As their guidelines says only after they can see if that pregnancy is viable (6 weeks scan)

@vvit it is yes, that's why I was surprised after seeing this earlier.
