IVF in unexplained fertility

Can anyone tell me about their IVF journey please?

we’ve been trying for a second child for over two years now. We’ve been investigated up and down - bloods, sperm, hormones, AMH, fallopian tubes all normal, but it’s just not happening. Our son was conceived within 4 months so it’s very frustrating that we just can’t welcome a very much wanted sibling.

im 36 with a BMI of 28 and we’re due to start IVF next month. We’ve decided to do 3 cycles and then stop - we can’t afford anymore and I think the emotional toll of never ending cycles would be too hard.

it feels like the end of the line 😓

would anybody be able to share their IVF experience? Successes or managing disappointment all welcome

thank you in advance. Bloody hard this conception thing isn’t it??

Just wanted to comment to say I could of written this. Hope you don't mind me asking but did you try anything else (clomid etc) before deciding on ivf?

Has your husband seen a urologist op? Male fertility is never fully looked into in my experience. If his sperm is ok you're probably fine.

No advice really other than to say it's good to have a limit on what you'll do. You and your doctor will learn so much from your first round and be able to adjust subsequent rounds.

Have you chosen a clinic? Seen the consultant? Been recommended supplements, testosterone or growth hormones etc? Is it a clinic that has been recommended?
I had two horrible rounds - impersonal, never saw the same consultant twice, terrible admin. A doctor who cares that I've seen every time and excellent admin has made so much difference this time whatever happens.

Things that helped me were being organised - a notebook where I wrote down questions I took to each appointment. Made my own spreadsheets to keep a log of what I was taking when. Nice things planned - acupuncture included.

Good IVF threads on Mumsnet you can join too.

Wishing you good luck.

Hi, I too have no advice but wanted to say you're not alone. My husband and I have been ttc 39 months with not even the faintest of lines on a hpt. We have both had all the tests which are all normal. My next gyno appt is in July where they are wanting decisions on ivf but unfortunately we can't even afford one round (I already have 2 grown up children to a previous relationship so we would have to self fund).

Just wanted to say hope it all works out for you xx
