TTC for 9 months

Hi all,

I have been TTC for 9 months and as you can imagine its getting harder as each month goes by to see the BFN.

I have been tracking my periods and I have recently discovered i have a short Luteal phase.

My periods are generally 26-29 days and last for about 6-7days. They are always light and generally don't get any cramps.

I ovulate around 13 days after my period ends so quite a lot later than the average.
I then generally have about 9-10 days between ovulation and my period starting again.

Last month my period came early, only about 6 days after ovulation, but seems to be back to normal this month. The month prior to that I has some bleeding before my period for a good 4-5 days which was very odd. Prior months I have had some bleeding before my period but as my periods are so light anyway its hard to tell if its spotting, or my periods are starting earlier than I thought (or on ocassion you get that odd excitement that it might be implantation bleeding!).

Has anyone else had a similar situation and can share whether they have had a positive outcome or perhaps anything else they found out along the way that may help my journey? I know they advise you don't see a doctor until you have been trying for a year, but should I perhaps see if I can get an appointment anyway?

Any advice or stories would be very welcome :)

I would try the doctors anyway and explain you Luteal phase is under 10 days as anything under this is considered short .

I cannot comment on any of the other issues unfortunately but I also ovulate late and that's why I looked into it but I have longer cycles and the phase is usually 12 days.

Not sure about lutéal phases but I ended up buying Ovusense after trying for 6 months with no luck. I’d been tracking with an app and it turns out the app dates were off. Got pregnant with my DD first go using Ovusense after that, then bought it again for my second- again, first go, now 17 weeks pregnant! Defo recommend as takes all the guesswork out of it- don’t buy full price though as there’s always a discount, I got 20% off my first and 25% my second just by Googling about. Good luck!

Verigio Never heard of that before, that sounds very positive though! Congratulations. I will have a look at this now, thanks very much

No worries, hope you have luck with it. I found it such a weight off to just know exactly when I was ovulating. It tracks the peak and gives you an estimated window- we just DTD every day in that window until it told me I’d ovulated. Nice and easy- and successful! I recommend it to everyone now.

Hello,

For reference, I’m TTC #1 and have only had one TTC cycle. That being said, for whatever it’s worth, I came off the pill three months ago and read that it’s quite natural to have a short Luteal phase for several months following that, and that this generally normalises/disappears around 7 months post withdrawal from contraceptive pill.

I use prenom to track everything (Lh levels, bbt etc), and noting that my Luteal phases were 8 and 9 days, had a panic, went down the rabbit hole of the internet and mumsnet and purchased vitamin B6 and berocca. This month my Luteal phase was 11 days. Could be time passing since I came off the pill, could be the B6, could be coincidence. But ultimately, may be worth a shot?

I’ve also read that many mumsnet users were able to conceive with short a shorter than idea Luteal phase, and for reassurance, whilst logically with implantation being most common on days 8/9/10 having anything much shorter than that could be problematic, however medical studies on luteal phase defect are uncertain.

Basically, B6 may help. But depending on your age and how diligent you’ve been at DTD over your fertility window, speaking to your doctor can’t hurt either.
