AMH and AFC results

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me. I'm 34 and we have been TTC for just 3 months. We thought we'd get private fertility tests just to rule out any problems. My partners sperm is in the high range for everything but morphology which is 5%. My AMH is 9.4 and my AFC was 15. My BMI is 32.7 (actively trying to lose weight!) and blood pressure was 124 over 86. The consultant didn't seem to think any of these were major issues but did say the AMH was on the lower side. Has anyone had similar results and naturally concieved? We are open to IVF later if needed. Thanks

Should have said as well, cycles are regular, 29 to 30 days, ovulate at around day 17 or 18 (opks confirmed with temping), periods are 6 or 7 days. Thanks guys x

AMH is great for indicating response to IVF/fertility meds but have little bearing on natural conception. I'm on many over 40 TTC and saw women conceive with really low AMH. Your AFC is good.

Have you had ful day 3 bloods done? I'd advise having those done to get a full picture.

I'm in the UK and I used a kit from Hertility to do my bloods. They're comprehensive and accurate.

I'm 42 and my AMH was 11.29 in December last year. I had a private scan and had a AFC of 15. My NHS fertility nurse said those were good results.

Thanks @BabyMamma7 I just thought at 34 my AMH would be a little higher! I've just ordered a hertility kit, and will complete on CD3, thanks for the recommendation. Hopefully this will give me a clearer picture!

I was 32, BMI 37, amh of 5.8. AFC of 5/6. we were doing IVF as my husband is a cancer survivor and had a sperm count of about a million with 1% morphology. We had been told not to even bother trying naturally as our chance was so low.

We decided to do a couple of rounds and freeze for future kids to. Had 5 great quality pgs tested blasts in the freezer and decided to go for transfer. I did t respond to meds. Turned out I was already pregnant but v early as ovulated quite late in my cycle.

It turned out to be twins. Lost one at 10 weeks. Second one is now 16 months and the brightest, cutest button ever

My BMI was 32 and AMH around 7 if I recall correctly. I was 28 at the time and devastated as was told that was low for my age (more reflective of someone in their 40s).

I'm 31 now with 2 under two 🤦🏼‍♀️ both conceived naturally (albeit a few MCs before number 1, hence getting fertility tests done). I got caught out and conceived no 2 when 1 was 4 months old..so my low AMH had no effect on me conceiving. Best of luck OP!

Thank you all so much, these messages have made me feel a lot more positive! x

I'm 35 with an AMH of 6 and AFC of 8/9. I was told that AMH was low but not "devastatingly low" i.e. it's the low end of normal but the range is massive.

Scarlett868 · 23/04/2023 14:53

I had an AMH level of 6 at 34 and AFC OF 8 was told it was low but not impossible to conceive. I had been trying naturally for 2 years at this point with no success.

Had a failed nhs ivf cycle the following year. Labelled a poor responder produced no eggs. Then went private 6 months later was given a 10% chance of success with my amh level. Am now 39 weeks pregnant with my first transfer.

I'm now 37 and started trying at age 32 nor sure if i would have ever got pregnant naturally but would advise to look at ivf clinics that specialise in low amh as typically you won't respond well to the drugs and the NHS has a one size fits all policy.

You are only at the start if your journey so hopefully you won't have a long wait.
Wishing you lots of luck xxxx

@Scarlett868 wow thanks for sharing. I'm really surprised as your numbers don't sound too low based on what I've read but I'm obviously no expert! I'm so glad you are now pregnant and wish you all the luck xxx
