What to avoid/do ttc

Hi everyone!

First post so I hope this comes out ok!
I was just wondering if anyone had any tips/suggestions on what I should be avoiding when ttc? I mean this in terms of what day to day stuff maybe I should slow down on? Generally on my feet all day with work and a fair amount of lifting and moving about, I will avoid heavy lifting.
This is only our second month trying so I’m fairly new to all this. I’m 30 and as far as my own tracking goes (app/opk/body symptoms) I don’t have any known issues that would affect fertility.
I’m current 2dpo and driving myself mad thinking things I’m doing might affect this working out.

Baby dust to you all!

Ttc? Absolutely bugger all except having lots of sex, eating well and taking folic acid

you absolutely don’t need to “slow down”

Travelisfun · 20/04/2023 15:26

The things I did:
Carried on going for runs 3 times a week
Started to consciously eat more fruit and veg
Take pre natal vitamin tablets
Stuck to only one coffee a day
Avoided diet drinks with sweeteners.
Good luck!

Take folic acid,
Don’t take vitamin A (will be in multi vitamins) Don’t drink much

You should be taking a prenatal vitamin, try to eat healthily and exercise. You don’t need to stop anything if you’re TTC. If you’re a smoker I would probably try to stop now. Otherwise it could be a long process and it’s a long 9 months so you don’t want to be cutting anything out now.

Just carry on as normal. When you’re pregnant, take a bit more care with your food and drink. If you find you need more rest when pregnant, then you slow down then.

I haven’t changed anything-already ate healthily and exercise frequently. Still have couple of coffees and a glass of wine most days. I was already taking iron supplements which contain folic acid. It could take a year even with no issues so I don’t see the point in changing anything until at least a year

I will avoid heavy lifting.
Why?

Have lots of sex around your fertile period, that's the best way to get upduffed.

Hazelnuttella · 20/04/2023 15:32

You’re meant to avoid heavy lifting when you’re actually pregnant so you don’t knacker your pelvic floor.
I don’t think it will affect your chances of conceiving.

Namechanger355 · 20/04/2023 15:33

Pre-conception vitamins - but more for egg quality and to ensure you have enough folic acid

these don’t have vitamin a

have lots of sex around your ovulation date- look at sperm meets egg method for inspiration

I don’t know if this actually helped me but I kept my legs raised on the wall for 30 mins after each session and didn’t have a shower all day afterwards

i don’t think you need to do anything else.

but Obviously the healthier the food you eat and the more active you are the more energy you should have in pregnancy

Charlove92 · 20/04/2023 16:56

Thank you for all your suggestions :)

the not heaving lifting came from a doctor telling me it could affect implantation and obviously I wouldn’t know that was happening so just seemed safer to avoid it thats all

@Charlove92 im not sure which doctor told you that but heavy lifting won’t impact implantation. Just be healthy and have plenty of sex

lucya66 · 21/04/2023 06:07

I used the ferti lily cup to hold the sperm inside me while I slept after dtd. Hates the feeling of it leaking out all night.

I also used conceive plus lube.

smep too :)

Poppy708 · 21/04/2023 09:50

Thanks for the advice re: vitamin a I didn’t know this and take multi-vitamins daily. Is it a standard no to any vitamin a or is it going over the recommended daily dose?

Hazelnuttella · 21/04/2023 10:18

It’s a no to any Vit A supplement, can harm the baby. Also no cod liver oil and not too much oily fish.

Namechanger355 · 21/04/2023 10:55

Also conceive plus lube could help
