Gynae apt/TTC/what to expect/help

I have an NHS gynaecology appointment coming up but I'm not exactly sure what to expect/what I want the outcome to be or what questions to ask.

TTC #1 for over a year but I have a short luteal phase (8-10 days max, not including spotting from 8 days). I don't have any other symptoms or pains or heavy periods etc.

I've had various bloods which were all fine and normal ultrasound. Although the bloods were taken on the textbook day 21 - only 4 days after I ovulated that cycle. I think if they'd been done 7DPO it might have shown that my progesterone is dropping sooner than it should.

I think I'm hoping/expecting to be given some progesterone support but can anyone offer any advice? I've waited so long and know I'm in a fortunate place to have an appointment but don't want to be fobbed off or just be told to wait longer.

I'm going prepared with my cycle histories, names of supplements, blood results etc etc.

Partner has had SA.

Any other advice welcomed. Thank you.

Hi I am sorry you are going through a tough time ttc. I tried for nearly 4 years with my first so I understand how you must be feeling. I can only go by what happened during my appointments but I was referred for an ultrasound of my uterus and ovaries. They could then refer you for an HyCoSy to check that your fallopian tubes arent blocked.
Ypu should definitely ask for the blood test to be earlier if you are concerned about low progesterone. Do you have brown spotting before your period is due? You can also get a private progesterone test or purchase one from medichecks. They didn’t investigate my progesterone ttc my first but they did last year when I had recurrent miscarriages ttc my second.
i wish you all the best and I hope your appointment goes well. I have found once I had that initial appointment things moved quickly. I hope they do for you too.

Hey!
Jumping on here! Have you had your appointment OP? I'm in a similar position, TTC 16 months never had a BFP, scan seemed normal, slight enlargement on my ovaries but nothing to be concerned about, bloods showed I didn't ovulate but I also think the bloods were done a little too early. I have just had my gynae referral through for the 7th July and no idea what happens at that point!

Hey,
It wasn't that useful to be honest. Seemed to be just another tick box exercise before they refer to someone who will actually help - I've been referred to a fertility clinic. The gynae said they only look at prescribing progesterone etc when everything else has been ruled out, so I need to have my tubes tested first.
I hope yours is more useful x

@windsor22 Hey sorry I never saw your reply! I have my appointment 2 weeks today and also think it's going to be waste of time :( did they say how long your referral will be for the fertility clinic? Hope everything went okay with your other test, do you mind me asking where you are based? X
