Sorry just here to vent really. We’ve been TTC for nearly 18months. I’m 43 so time is definitely NOT on my side. We’ve had blood tests/ultrasounds/seamen analysis and all ok so back in august last year were referred to the NHS fertility specialist. Since then the appt has been cancelled multiple times !! Sometimes on the morning of the appt !!
today had a telephone appt for 10:30 so diligently waited by the phone from 10-11:15 - no call ! Phoned the secretary who apologised we hadn’t received a cancellation letter but said it’s been rebooked for July !!!

just so fed up of a) my body not doing what’s it’s meant to be doing when in my twenties fell pg first month of trying with both my DDs (previous partner) and b) I just want answers and help and know if there’s no hope so I can move on with my life

sorry just needed to vent !

I'm 43 and TTC too, just wanted to say I know how frustrating it is.

I've been lucky with our GP/fertility appointments.

Maybe call your GP and put in a complaint

If you already have children you probably won't get any nhs funding for fertility treatments. Maybe look at private?

Hey, we were told definitely no funding for IVF as a) I’m too old now and b) I’ve got children already. But GP advised other options (clomid and further tests etc) would be funded ?

As above I would look into private options if you can afford it. Am not sure what additional tests the NHS will be able to do (? HSG) - the most likely cause is poor egg quality due to age. Success rates with Clomid are v low over 40. Your greatest chance of conceiving is going to be with IVF +/- donor eggs and I would pursue this route sooner rather than later.
Good luck

Definitely go private.

Hey @Bluelightbaby
I feel your pain as I'm also currently battling the NHS Funding system! how it's taken us almost 2 years to only JUST be at the point of funding approval is beyond me, but there we go!
Depending on where you are based in the country, I do know that it varies massively on what options you have. I also know that private direct as @lotteloo mentioned doesn't rule out on BMI, Age etc, so that might be worth a conversation?
Also, everyone assumes that it's IVF only, when their are so many other options like ovulation induction (thats where we are currently), IUI, IVF, Tablets and so on.
Clinic's vary from one to another, but I can only give you what I know from mine and on average these are the prices:

Ovulation induction (tablets) approx £350 per month
Ovulation induction (injections) approx £1,000 per month (This is me atm!)
IUI approx £1,300 per month
IVF approx £6,000-£7,000
ICSI approx £8,000 per month.

Hope that helps? x
