Anyone have OHSS symptoms fade and still get a BFP??

As above, really. I have been searching old threads but to no avail so thought I'd try a fresh post.

I am only 3dp5dt and had what I believe to be some very mild OHSS symptoms. Doc was happy to go ahead with embryo transfer anyway and I am now feeling one hell of a lot better. But tbh, I'd rather be feeling worse (sorry - I know that's awful) but only because it would mean likelihood of pregnancy is higher.

So my question is - has anyone had mild OHSS pain, had a transfer, symptoms vastly improved and gone on to get a BFP??

Truthfully - no. I don't think my body was ready to accept the fresh transfer. I felt bloated, fatigued and my bowel habits were still a bit all over the place. My gut told me my body wasn't willing to accept a baby as it had so recently been stressed. My next frozen worked though

Thanks @Smogtopia, pleased number 2 worked.
Unfortunately we don't have any in the freezer :(

Looks like another round for us. God this is hard work!

I only had two embryos. One failed fresh and a successful frozen. There's still hope for you this round too!

When are you testing?

Smogtopia · 28/03/2023 10:21

Something I told myself too - the clinics are competitive and rely hugely on success rates. I can't see a Dr (for their own selfish sake along side their professionalism towards you) transferring a fresh embryo if they thought you had OHSS. have faith in their guidance too :)

SarahScone · 28/03/2023 10:29

Yes @Smogtopia that's exactly what I thought. Doc said he was happy to ahead with transfer, that he couldn't see 'much' free fluid and the only symptom I had was pain (but it was bloody painful!)
But you're right, I work with doctors everyday and they're not going to put their necks on the line if they have any doubts!
Maybe it was just post retrieval pain but it was the way it got so significantly worse that worried me. And now I'm worrying because the pain has gone. It never ends!

Good luck!!! My last little frozen is now running around :)

Hey, was searching my symtoms and came across this thread.
I got a BFP last week and am now 16dp5dt.
Initially my OHSS symptoms were really bad - mainly feeling nauseas and a hard distended stomach but this week these have become a lot better. Stomach becomes hard and sore usually at night after i’ve had a big dinner and very mild nausea only in morning.

My concern is that OHSS normally gets worse as pregnancy continues and i’m so scared that my symptoms are actually improving.
I tested with a home pregnancy test again yesterday and it was still positive but scared to get one of those digital ones incase they tell me otherwise.
I had my first beta blood test last week and it was at a good level but hasn’t been checked again.

Has anyone else’s OHSS symptoms started improving so soon after getting a BFP?

thanks x

@Troptolate hi, I just wondered how this worked out for you- I am currently in a similar position and whilst on one hand relieved that my OHSS is improving, now worrying what it means about the pregnancy.

Troptolate · 06/08/2023 16:08

Hi @Walker12 I had an early scan at 7 weeks where I found out I had a missed miscarriage - they could only see the sac and fetal pole but no heartbeat. I’m not sure if that is why my OHSS symptoms disappeared as technically my body still thought I was pregnant and I had to have an MVA when I was ‘10 weeks’ as hadn’t miscarried naturally by then.
I’m sorry it’s not what you want to hear just now but please think positively and I pray and hope that your pregnancy goes well xx

Walker12 · 06/08/2023 16:18

@Troptolate I am so so sorry to hear that. I will definitely try to stay positive but just feeling I need to protect myself a bit at the moment! I have managed to find a few other threads with mix of outcomes so I know just need to accept the uncertainty at the moment. I hope you are doing OK, I had an early loss a few months ago and it was heartbreaking so sending lots of love X

Hi. By means of an update....

So it turned out I was pregnant and my OHSS symptoms did start to return towards dawn of positive test (although I am told I did not have OHSS I do know that I was experiencing pain (not discomfort) and retrospectively, I now know that was linked to increase in HCG). Unfortunately the pregnancy didn't stick - had all the testing and it was an extra chromosome - essentially just bad luck.
So yes - if you have symptoms and they do start to fade, they may reappear towards testing date! I don't think I really knew mine were reappearing until I thought about it afterwards - I was still quite swollen and uncomfortable from the whole debacle.

Hi @SarahScone, I'm so sorry it didn't work out for you. I was hospitalised last weekend with OHSS at about 8dp5dt (and bloods in hospital confirmed pregnancy), but have been home a few days and feeling much better so just suprised things seem to have improved so quickly given my hcg should be increasing.. but I know its just impossible to know. There is so so much uncertainty in this whole process and its hard to stay positive at times! Hope you are doing OK.
