Implant removal

Hello,

I took my implant out on the 23rd February 2023. I still haven't had a period.

I have tested negative on pregnancy test. I am not sure if it is too early to test as it's only been a month since removal.
My best case scenario is I am pregnant as this maybe the reason why I haven't started my period yet.

Has anyone got any tips of advise on how I can kick start my period as I am worried my period would not return. Previous to being on contraception I used to have a regular 28 day cycle and ovulate regularly too. I want to start baby number 2 ASAP!

There is nothing you can do apart from be healthy.

I've had my implant removed twice and got pregnant that month both times so never a period at all.. just been to get a new one inserted as I am done and the nurse said it's the one form of contraception that makes your cycle return to normal immediately..

@baxtersm unfortunately not necessarily true. Of course it can for some people but many others take a while to return to normal. It’s also not the only form of contraception they say that about, for example they said the same to me about the coil.

@rimx it can take a while for things to return to normal. When I had my coil out the first time it took 4 months for my cycle to go back to regular, although were longer than pre coil. Second time it took 3.5 weeks before I ovulated, and got pregnant the first cycle.

Thanks guys for your all your advise and personal experiences. Much appreciated xx

When I had my implant taken out I didn't get my period back. After a year I went to the GP and they gave me some hormone medication, basically a big dose of hormones to kick start it all. Made me hideously sick but they did the trick. I wasn't ttc at the time otherwise I'd have gone sooner but if it does take a while, there are things they can do to help kick start your cycle again.

Well she lied.

Had my implant out Dec 22nd and my first period wasn't until 45 days after... Worried me a lot too!

Your only 26 days? I had my period at 28 days after implant removal.

Yes, I think I'm just stressing myself out! Hopefully it will not come and I'm pregnant or come and I can ttc xx

I'm very worried too but I'm feeling reassured!

Just as an update for anyone worried. My first period took 45 days but after that my cycles are within normal range. Last one was 31 and this one is 29.

rimx · 02/04/2023 09:46

I finally had a period after 29 days post removal. Now using the clear blue ovulation tests to check for ovulation. On my app it shows that my peak is in 4 days so I should hopefully ovulate soon.

Did anyone experience after implant removal that they don't ovulate or not regularly.
