Moone Boy Waiting GIF by HULU

Hey! 💛
I'm in UK and been TTC for over a year, it is hell!!! I've had doctors appointments, scans and blood tests and everything seems to be coming back to PCOS, I have most of the symptoms so it wasn't a surprise! I'm currently on the waiting list for a gynaecologist but have no idea how long I'm going to be waiting, is anyone in a similar position and if so how long did you have to wait? 💛

@SnowSnow I'm so happy you got your pregnancy ✨
What brand did you use? I've just ordered the MyOva tablets 🤍

Hi OP!

I have PCOS too and have an 18 month old son! I was diagnosed at 15 years old and the GP basically told me I’d be infertile and stuck me on birth control for 5 years until I had enough!

It took me years to learn about my body and what worked best for me.

Like other posters, I truly believe taking inositol supplements was one of the biggest reasons I managed to conceive. I also have a cup or two of spearmint tea which is great for balancing hormones and reducing acne/hair growth.

Also, lifestyle and diet changes are so important when you have PCOS. I had to lose a few pounds and became more active too. Lots of long walks and weighted work outs.

I have so many friends/colleagues who have PCOS and have multiple children. It is 100% possible and I have my fingers crossed for you OP xxx

@NLO94x I waited 3 years for a gynae referral, although I'm in n.i and waiting times are a joke

sl7uk · 17/03/2023 12:00

@NLO94x thank you for starting this thread, I feel like I'm not alone! Today I had a scan and finally been diagnosed with PCOS. Been ttc for 5 months but period has gone MIA, so I'm not ovulating and therefore can't ttc. But I agree, it's hell/stressful/anxiety inducing!

Also been referred to gyna but they said waiting list at the moment is about 8 months!! What are your next steps? Is this your first time ttc?

(I'm based just outside London)

NLO94x · 17/03/2023 15:00

@sl7uk you most definitely aren't alone 💗I've felt the exact same, especially with my friends around me getting pregnant so easily, I can't help but feel like this is so unfair. I'm happy for them but sad for me!
It's just a waiting game for me at the moment, my boyfriend has his sample appointment booked for April so fingers crossed there are no issues there!
Yes my first time trying to conceive and honestly, I never want to go through it again. We are now 14 months TTC.
Some of the comments in this tread have recommended inositol so I've done my research and order from a company called MyOva, it may be worth taking a look into this for yourself!
Wishing you all the luck 💙

Sorry I have only just seen this. I used Free Soul which I got off Amazon. I'm sure they are all very similar. Hope the MyOva works for you

👋🏻 i have PCOS. Conceived DD1 with a combination of metformin and letrozole (3 cycles) in 2020, she was born 2021. I was diagnosed 10yrs ago, we were trying for a year, our referral was delayed due to the first covid lockdown but from first appt at the Assisted Conception Unit to conception was around 4 months? So things moved quickly once in the system.

Have an appt at the fertility clinic in April to hopefully get a new letrozole prescription for DC2 🤞🏻 Hoping the process moves quickly again as im 38 this year so starting to feel a bit of time pressure.

sl7uk · 18/03/2023 11:46

@NLO94xall my friends are pregnant or have newborns too. It's hard to avoid the constant chat about babies isn't it. It makes me feel very alone, so it's reassuring to know there are others who are feeling the same.

Assume the doctor didn't prescribe you with anything i.e. Metformin? Perhaps that will happen when you get your gyni appointment - hope that happens for you soon!

The amount of recommendations out there is over-whelming, but maybe I'll give inositol a go, thank you! Please keep me posted on your journey and wishing you all the best 💕

NLO94x · 20/03/2023 20:05

@YorkshireTeaCup good luck at your appointment in April 🤞🏼🤍

@sl7uk it really is! But we've got this 💪🏼

No I wasn't really told very much from my doctors to be honest, just that they will put the referral in for me. My boyfriend got a letter today putting his appointment back a week so hopefully that doesn't happen again!

I received my MyOva tablets yesterday, I'm going to start them at the beginning of my next cycle 🤞🏼🤍

@MK85 I'm sorry you have had to wait so long :(

Do you have PCOS as well? 💙

OP posts:
MK85 · 22/03/2023 15:18

@NLO94x yeah I have pcos. Took alot of faffing about with doctor to finally get a diagnosis and request a referral and that was back in summer 19. March 23 and still haven't started any treatment 😪
Although I did manage to ovulate for the first time ever and conceive naturally in dec but lost it in January. Cycles are starting to mess up again. Currently on cycle day 37

NLO94x · 22/03/2023 15:30

@MK85 I'm so sorry to hear this 😢it is totally unfair.

I have never actually been told I have PCOS but it was mentioned as a possibility, perhaps this will be confirmed once I've been referred?

Have you tried any supplements to help regulate your cycle? I also have irregular periods, some months as long as 45 days+ I have found since using pregnacare conception my cycles have been better, most months usually long still but I have had a few good months within the last 15 months. AF arrived yesterday and after reading the replies from these lovely ladies I have ordered inositol and I'm going to start taking them in a couple of days 🙏💛

OP posts:
Changemynamechangemyname23 · 22/03/2023 22:11

My cycles were very long before I started the inositol. After taking them they were regular and I could feel the difference around ovulation. Why are you waiting to take the inositol @NLO94x ?

NLO94x · 22/03/2023 22:15

@Changemynamechangemyname23 I have a couple of the pregnacare tablets left to last me till Friday so thought I'd finish them then start the inositol.

Did you take anything else along side inositol? I'm scared of taking too much 🤦🏻‍♀️🤍

OP posts:
Changemynamechangemyname23 · 22/03/2023 22:19

Ah ok fair enough! I thought you were waiting for next cycle or something.

The ones I took contained folic acid, so no I just took the sachets morning and evening as instructed. Not sure what the ones you bought instruct, but should have guidance?

I'm sure it is a natural substance found in the cells and the one I had was of vegetable origin, so didn't see I could 'overdose' as such.

It's 4000mg of inositol per day, and 400mcg of folic acid with these x

lottieb92 · 22/03/2023 22:23

@NLO94x i am taking a lot of vitamins with inositol some recommend by gynaecologist some just me wanting too haha

but for egg quality C0q10 and then also Vitamin d as they said almost 75% ladies with pcos have vitamin d deficiency!

but you’ll be totally fine with a pregnancy vitamin and inositol they say that it rarely has any effect/ interference with other vitamins and it’s very safe, you could always ask GP if you were unsure? Better to be safe than sorry so I can see why you’d wait 😊

when I looked into some other pregnancy multi vitamins I took previously they actually have inositol in… just in very low doses you need a fair bit more with pcos.
i have nothing but positive things to say about taking it so far, my skin is clearer, periods are lighter and my mood is better 👌🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

NLO94x · 22/03/2023 22:24

@Changemynamechangemyname23

4000mg of Myo-inositol

200ug Folate

100ug Chromium

This is the MyOva brand x

OP posts:
NLO94x · 22/03/2023 22:26

@lottieb92 thank you for that! I have plenty of vitamin d tablets so I will continue to take them! I'm excited to see how these work out for me 🤞🏼🤍

OP posts:
lottieb92 · 22/03/2023 22:27

@NLO94x really hope you get as good results 🤞🏻 Fingers crossed for you!

NLO94x · 22/03/2023 22:27

@lottieb92 thank you so much 🥰🤍

OP posts:
Changemynamechangemyname23 · 22/03/2023 22:29

Yes vitamin D is a good staple regardless!

NLO94x · 22/03/2023 22:31

@Changemynamechangemyname23 thank you, I'll carry on with them and I also take cod liver oil 🤍

OP posts:
rainbowssky · 22/03/2023 22:35

@lottieb92 can I please ask what your lifestyle and diet changes are?

Thanks for the thread op, we have been ttc 3 years and had 2 mmc's.

MK85 · 23/03/2023 00:01

@NLO94x we've been ttc number 1 since 2005 so yeah I've tried every supplement and herb out there 😄 i took vitex years ago and it did somewhat help regulate them so they werent as irregular but then they stopped working ( my fertility coach told me that's common with that herb) shatavari helped me for a while aswell but now they are just out of control 1-2 a year and had a bout of amenorrhea for 1 1/2 years back in 2020.
I did try a few new different things around the time I fell pregnant so I don't know if it helped ( If i could remember the exact combination and dosages) or if the hsg test helped regulate them and promote ovulation ( they say it can stimulate the ovaries for a few months) could likely have been that.
I currently a list of vitamins as long as my arm 😆 and I take metformin aswell.
I lost 8 pounds over 2 weeks last month so I don't know if that's had anything to do with my cycles messing up and not ovulating or if my natural rhythm has messed up again
