Hey everyone so my DD is 15 months and still breastfeeds alot! Sleep has always been a issue so she co sleeps and feeds in the night. She goes 6 hours stretches without milk during the day when I work.
My worry is she took 3 years to conceive so don't know how long the next one will take. I haven't had any periods yet since giving birth. I don't know why I'm feeling like this but everytime I hear someone say they are pregnant I get jealous? I feel so selfish for feeling this way as I have a beautiful little girl!

Is this all normal to feel this way? 😕
Can I do anything to kick start ovulation?
Thanks I'm advance ☺

Mine is 13 months and I've actually given up breastfeeding in order to ttc. However I got my period back after reading about metabolic loading while breastfeeding - basically eat loads of extra calories for a couple of months to kickstart - if you google it there's some studies. My period came back at 6 months after a month of scoffing everything, but my luteal phase was short still. But others haven't had this problem, I think it's individual, and for me I had to give up breastfeeding last month to get a normal length luteal phase 🤷‍♀️

Congrats on your breastfeeding journey! It’s not selfish at all and best of luck. There are lots of natural remedies that say it can help bring back menstruation, I tried some evening primrose oil tablets from Holland and Barrett, check that they’re okay for breastfeeding though, I’m pretty sure they are as I was at the time x

You can still be ovulating even when you don't get your periods. So the fact that you aren't having a period doesn't mean you can't get pregnant. Obviously it's going to be harder for you to track your cycles etc but hopefully an ovulation kit can still detect ovulation

I absolutely understand where you are coming from and am in a similar boat. It's absolutely not selfish, it's so hard being in the unknown. My little one is 15-months too and still breastfeeding a lot. She goes to nursery twice a week and doesn't have any milk in this time so I know she can do it. On the days she is with me I managed to cut it down to once in the day for a nap and maybe an afternoon one if particularly grizzly that day, and then for bedtime and multiple times throughout the night, but illness has got us back to basically constantly in the day again. I've been trying to up my calories intake and eased off exercise to just gentle movement like waking and yoga, I do struggle with this though as I enjoy running and hating feeling like I'm constantly eating or thinking what to have next or preparing food all the time which with a toddler anyway is a lot 😂😅 I'm also taking a pregnancy/breastfeeding vitamin (have been considering switching to a conception one instead once I finish this pack) omega 3, b6 and iron + vit c. I've been looking at trying to gently night wean as seems that this is one of the most impactful things for getting cycles back so have been discussing with my husband about him attending to little one in the night for a few nights whilst I sleep in the spare room, considering I've done every night up until now I'm trying not to feel guilty about it.

I joined the Facebook group TTC and Pregnancy whilst breastfeeding support group, it's a private group so if you join it unless you have mutual friends others shouldn't be able to see you've joined it. I've found some useful tips in there, and just feeling like you aren't alone can help sometimes.
