TTC but don't think I'm ovulating - any advice?

Hi everyone. Long-time lurker, first time posting. DH & I are in our early/mid 30s. Both childless. I came off contraception 18 months ago. My periods have been very irregular (first one 6 weeks later but each period later and later, most recent was over 4 months since the last). I don't think I'm ovulating - is there anything that can be done? Already had blood tests and ultrasound a year or so back for period issues.

Saw GP recently with a TTC hat on. They've said they'll do more bloods and referral to gynae is a couple of years who would then have to refer me to fertility specialists. I was told "dont worry you have time" and that privately would be "20 grand".

Is there nothing in the middle? Surely costs of fertility treatments vary based on what the treatment is. Doing some reading I think I need something to induce ovulation / regulate cycles, I think this is what Clomid does? I just felt a bit hopeless to be honest. Already a "normal" weight (a little chubby in some places, working on it but BMI <25), never smoked, normally casually drink but currently teetotal in hopes of TTC. Not sure I can/would like to sustain that for years. Any advice?

Meant to say, that for those who don't have regular periods, I always thought that instead of the single D21 blood test, they do whole cycle testing. I don't know the exact days, but you have several blood tests over the cycle- to track hormones through the month, and 'try' to pin point if you ovulated.

Thanks everyone. My intention was absolutely not to GP bash but neither was I overtly worried to keep being told 'dont worry you have plenty of time, you really do', a little frustrating when all I hear about TTC is time is so precious. I'm all too aware of the pace things move at in NHS and how long it took for my original ultrasound then how much longer to be seen by a gynaecologist (for previous period issues unrelated to TTC). All was fine apart from a couple of slightly low vitamins but have since started taking supplements OTC. Normal ultrasound. Normal STI screen.

I think my plan is to wait and see the gynaecologist again and ask re: fertility. If I'm back to square one with having to wait another 2 years, I will have to consider private options (at least for ovulation induction) but I'm hoping they can do an AMH, prescribe something for ovulation induction. Or Perhaps I should try to get an AMH done privately in the mean time...
