Uterine polyp following miscarriage

Hi all, Im looking for some advice/similar stories. I'm 28 and recently miscarried at approx 6 weeks with first pregnancy. During a scan a 2cm polyp was identified in my womb. I'm seeing a consultant privately next week to discuss this, as I know it won't be deemed urgent enough to sort on NHS any time soon (thankfully have health insurance). Ive had no symptoms (bleeding between periods etc) and have no risk factors. Anyone experienced this? I'm obviously worried and would like any reassurance. I just so want to be able to get pregnant again asap. All my hormones and gynae structure is normal. Thanks in advance x

Hi,

I am so sorry to hear what you have gone through, I really hope you are ok 🥰

I have one of those two! It was only picked up recently when I had a Hycosy done…

I am going back for another scan to make sure it’s still there as I believe they can be there one minute and shed with your cycle the next. If it is still there I will be getting mine removed.

My body seems to love oestrogen and I believe this is why mine has been caused.

I think they can get in the way of something potentially implanting to so it is good to get rid of it.

I believe they are pretty common. I feel like it’s one of those things once you know it’s there it’s now playing on my mind. The procedure seems pretty straightforward though x x

@thecoconutcat
Hiya, I had a 2cm one too, I had it removed then I fell pregnant two months later. Good luck xx

This gives me so much hope thank you @cat709. If you don't mind me asking, were you also young at the time? I'm so confused that you're at risk for this if you have high blood pressure, are obese, or going through menopause - I have none of these. What was the surgery like? Did they test it for cancer? I know it's like 1% odds of it being cancer in a woman without bleeding or post menopause, but I'm so anxious x

@thecoconutcat

I think they recommended trying after one month after op. Just so that you're recovered and you've had one cycle under your belt.

I was 33 at the time. And I do have bouts of high blood pressure, think it's just genetics. But other than that I'm fit and healthy. It's just a growth almost, like a tag on your skin. It's day surgery and I honestly would have had NO idea that anything happened down there!!

Polyps aren't cancerous on their own, so honestly don't even stress about that part. It will get sent off to be checked but that's just standard, like with a mole.

I used to have insane painful / heavy period for years, as soon as this polyp was removed I was like a new person.

I think stop googling and try to think of it as just like a mole being removed as a precaution. It's so common, out of my girl group of 6, three of us had this, and we all now have a baby xx

I was having IVF and had to pause to have a polyp removed. When I went for the check up scan post op, another one had appeared! The clinic advised me to get that removed as well but I cracked on with the IVF as I could have been playing the removing / new polyp game for infinity, they grow back so quickly, and I’m pretty glad I listened to my intuition as I’m sat here now cuddling my utterly gorgeous 4 month old baby boy 😊

You girls are so helpful thank you so much @WeekendInTheBoondocks @cat709 ! So pleased you both went on to be pregnant and congratulations on your baby boy @WeekendInTheBoondocks ! It's truly so reassuring to read your stories. It's just with the miscarriage and then this discovery feels like a never-ending journey, but let's hope it'll be no time at all before I'm pregnant 🙏

Thanks so much for this. It has really reassured me! I have one and I’m getting it removed soon. I have been so worried as I feel like no one has really explained it properly to me.
