Laproscopy, swollen tube

Hi all , just wondering has anyone been through the experience of having a swollen tube.
So here's my situation.

I was referred for a laproscopy as during a routine pelvic trans ultrasound in October my gynae consultant suspected I had a swollen tube filled with fluid. I was then referred for a hsg dye which came back 'normal' this was back in november. The following month in December we had a chemical very early.

I also had my appointment at fertility clinic last week and after reading my notes they scanned me and said there was no sign of a hydrosphinx. They would have noticed any swelling wouldn't they ?

Today I got a letter from my previous gynae consultant who did the scan in oct and he said I should go ahead with the surgery to investigate the cystic structure as to the swollen tube to see if its coming from tube or ovary. He advised me go ahead with trial clomid. Take my provera to bring a bleed ect as i was not having periods when i last saw him..

Wouldn't the consultant at fertility clinic have noticed this aswell? He didn't advise me to go ahead with surgery , he actually didn't say anything about the surgery after scanning me . He told me not take clomid as my periods are now regular past few months and have not required provera.. hence why I wonder if gynae letter was written before i saw fertility clinic but it started the letter with following my consultation at fertility clinc.. that's why I'm so confused.

I then had an appointment with another different gynae last week aswell and he said the problem is not with your tubes the problem is I'm not ovulating. He wasn't even aware so I feel there must be confusion somewhere as to doctors not sharing notes with other.

Has anyone been in this situation? Can a swollen tube resolve itself ? Or could it still he swollen but sightly less severe and not showing now ? I am concerned but at same time if I go through with surgery it will delay our ivf treatment . I have pcos and we have male factor aswell so are awaiting treatment. I'm not in a position really to delay treatment as I'm 37 years old and we've been trying 17 years and have been going back and forth for 4 years now trying to get help. I don't think at my age I can delay fertility treatment . I'd love some advice from anyone, specifically those who have been through the situation of a swollen tube.
Really confused to go ahead with this or not due to the risk of having the surgery . Infection , damage ect
