London fertility clinics/recurrent miscarriage investigations, recommend?

Hi we are sadly going through another miscarriage and I am trying to be proactive to occupy my mind.

GP and in other things I've read, said NHS referrals can take months to even be seen and I understand that it can take months again to get any answers.

Would be prepared to go private to get quicker answers as we are just shocked and lost, but as this is a big financial commitment for us, don't want to be messed around and would want to go to the best clinic possible in/around London.

If you have had experience of privately looking into recurrent miscarriage would be really keen to hear your experience, which clinic, and any good consultants to see?

I've been watching that 'making babies show' so thought Kings Fertility might be good, so would be good to hear experiences with them also?

Thanks!

We are with Kings and have had recurrent miscarriage (two MMC in the last year). The quality of care so far has been good and they were honest about their recommendations and didn't push us to have more expensive tests or investigations that they said we could have if we wanted but most likely didn't need.

They have delayed our IVF by a month through paper work delays though, which I wasn't happy about.

@TheBirdintheCave thanks for the insight, hope they sort out the IVF quickly

@TheBirdintheCave sorry to jump on here but was there a specific reason for moving to ivf. We've had reoccurring miscarriages, all tests have come back normal. But I am wondering if Ivf will help with the scanning of embryos. Thanks

@Privatemedical246 have you had investigations so far, would you mind sharing what route you have done so far?

@Sunshine2243 yes I went private locally but it was the same consultant who I would have been via nhs in Windsor. He does some days a week at a private clinic too. He was very helpful as I paid about £120 for private consultation first. He then agreed to then do all blood test via nhs and sent those to me from the nhs side. I was tested for clotting disorders, thyroid, lupus and hormones. All come back normal.

I had recently had a hycosy & internal scan anyway which he was happy to view and my husband had has sperm test done via an ivf clinic after our first miscarriage (thinking they were fertility specialist)

We also had karotypjng done via the nhs which took a long time to get results back which confirm no chromosome testing.

The only test I haven't had done is the nk killer cells so am going to ask why that wasn't done before.

But we have been told there is no reason we shouldn't have a healthy child within next 2 years as all results are normal which is why I was wondering about ivf

Hope this helps.

I'm with CRP clinic in epsom but they also have a clinic in Harley street. It's one of the leading mc clinics I believe. Not cheap and lots of tests with an immune focus I'd say. I do feel I'm being well looked after. I've had over 5 years of surgeries, ivf (I do that elsewhere but CRP have recently started offering that too) and 4 miscarriages. Been with CRP for about a year now. Currently newly pregnant and hoping all the new treatment I'm on helps this one stick.

You should look on the infertility board. There are similar threads on there that may have other suggestions, although CRP/professor Shehata is a common recommendation.

@Privatemedical246 Purely time. I'm 36 and my son is already two. I could be waiting months and months to get pregnant again as it doesn't happen quickly for us and I just want to get on with it.

Congrats on your pregnancy! Is it true CRP recommend some sort of anti inflammatory diet for women also? Did you make any diet changes? Thanks!

Thank you that's how I'm starting to feel. Just want to get on with at least ivf you defo get sperm and egg to meet. My husband still feels we should keep trying of course!

BbqFanatic · 02/03/2023 18:54

@seven201 can you please say where are you going for IVF?

seven201 · 02/03/2023 19:08

@Sunshine2243 they've not put me on a diet of any kind. I'm on metformin (have pcos) so maybe that's partly why. I eat far too much chocolate.

@BbqFanatic I wouldn't recommend where I go for ivf (it's not in Surrey or london). I did a two cycle deal and am still using them as I have one embryo left in the freezer. If I do ever do more ivf I'd probably do it at CRP. Out of my five pregnancies in the past 5 years only one was from ivf. 3 natural and one letrazole (current one through CRP). My ivf clinic should have done more tests on me earlier on - I wasted years and 4 embryos as I had a massive adhesion blocking acting like a 'natural coil' so there was no chance really. I'm 40 now so time isn't on my side.

seven201 · 02/03/2023 19:14

I have in the past made diet changes but they've never really stuck as I've found it stressful knowing what to eat and not eat! So overall I've not changed my diet much. When I first started at my ivf clinic I was told minimal carbs and no treats. That didn't last long. I think you need to find what's right for you. My BMI is just under 25 and I walk quite a bit. I wish I didn't eat so much chocolate/sugar.

I do have a 6 and a half year old dd (naturally conceived, no mc before her, they think my problem is an immune response to that pregnancy, so my body attacks embryos), wanted a 2 year age gap but that is long gone!

Big love to all going through it x

Have a look at ARGC OP. My friend had her twins with them after multiple failed rounds of IVF and miscarriages. She said it was intense but they were amazing.

BbqFanatic · 02/03/2023 22:11

Thanks @seven201 for sharing the information. It's very helpful.
