Implantation failure? Chemicals?

Hi,
My hubby and I have been TTC just over 10 months now. I’ve always sworn I’ve never had as much spotting on the week up to my period as I do when TTC. For the first time since starting TTC, hubby was away for work this cycle so we missed our window … and I have no spotting at all the week running up to my AF.

So I am starting to think all the spotting is actually implantation bleeding and then implantation fails and leads eventually to AF, is this a thing? I’m struggling to find anything on good old Google, only stuff I find is related to IVF.

Has anyone come across this or experienced similar?

Just for info: 32, blood / hormone tests all normal, internal ultra sound scans all normal. I do have suspected endo though and on waiting list for laparoscopy.

Honestly have no idea but I had a chemical this month ( confirmed by numerous positive tests) and i bled lightly for a week before full on heavy bleeding started which then lasted another full week. I don't know if it implanted but couldn't develop or if it didnt fully implant properly. I guess ill never know but it was 14 days of bleeding which is most unusual for me as af is normally around 6 days

It could be, have you ever taken a test between the spotting and AF arriving? A sensitive test like FRER is likely to pick up a chemical and then you'd know if you were dealing with an implantation issue.

However you mention endo - I have endo and very regularly have spotting before AF. Brown spotting at this stage is particularly common with endo.

I never had spotting with my current healthy pregnancy. The only time I did was my previous pregnancy when I was 16dpo, got a bfp, then bled heavily after a couple of days. Obviously an early miscarriage.

However, I sometimes spot a couple of days before my period actually starts and apparently that’s normal. You might not have paid close attention to the spotting prior to ttc and that’s why you think you spot more nowadays.

If it was an implantation bleed, you would get a positive test. Otherwise probably just a regular period. X

I’ve had similar happen to me when I had chemicals. Both times I started bleeding lightly at 8DPO (much earlier than my period was due), which was on and off for a few days. Then because the bleeding seemed different to a period (lighter and starting and stopping), I did pregnancy tests and got faint positives. The positive tests lasted a few days before the bleeding started again and the tests turned negative. I also had a similar pattern of bleeding the first month of TTC, but didn’t test as never suspected pregnancy. I‘d recommend testing next cycle you have this to confirm if you are having early losses, and if so, speak to a doctor. I’m now on progesterone from ovulation to try to support my luteal phase and prevent early losses, but no luck yet! All the best to you x
