TTC with Vaginismus - feeling frustrated.

Hey all,

I've recently been successful with sex, after being married for 3 years.

However his penis is only able to enter an inch after the tip. After that it feels like there's a block, and it ends up hurting if we try to push it in more.

I'm not sure if that's my cervix he can only reach till, and is it normal to hurt if a penis touches the cervix?

Can a vagina be as short as what I've described?

We are TTC in my ovulation days, which I understand that the vagina is more longer.

Because of all this, I feel like it doesn't allow the sperm to stay inside me. As soon as I relax my bowels and sit in the toilet, all the sperm comes dropping down. Sorry for TMI. I've tried raising my legs after sex.

Other than a penis, have you tried using tampons, fingers or a very thin vibrator to see how 'deep' your vagina is? Have you had a smear test before?

Hi, I've used dilators to treat my vaginismus and only the first two sizes from a 5piece set would fully go in.

I've never used tampons, only pads.

Haven't plucked up the courage yet to do a smear test :( I know I want to do it soon.

I know this is a fairly old thread, but I thought I'd add in my thoughts.

If you have vaginismus, your pelvic floor tightens and becomes as hard as a rock whenever you try to insert anything into the vagina, and repeated attempts just make it clench shut even harder and make it even more painful.

I always thought I had vaginismus until I had a transvaginal scan as part of a fertility work-up last year and although it was painful on insertion, it was comfortable by comparison once it was in and it was a lot less painful coming out. I was told I absolutely do not have vaginismus because otherwise the scan would not have been possible to carry out, I'm just one of those unlucky few women with a stupidly small and tight vaginal opening.

Smear tests are very unpleasant, but necessary. When you book it, ask them to use the smallest speculum they have. They may have to order a bunch in, but it'll be worth it.

@SarahShorty

Thanks for the response! I really do appreciate it.

It's fairly old yes, but it also feels like it was just the other day I posted this with an upset and distressed mind. But I'm incredibly grateful now that I fell pregnant the following month after I posted this and I just gave birth to a beautiful boy in October. Truly a miracle, and I'm so grateful to God.

However, I still don't think I've overcome vaginismus entirely! I still get anxious. I had to be on gas and air for every vaginial exam in the hospital 😩

Hi,

I am also currently in the same position as yourself. If you don’t mind me asking, how long were you ttc for? I am in my third cycle and now considering at home-insemination as the natural way can be a little difficult for me personally.

Any advice is welcome! 😊
