Trying after MMC and B12 deficiency?

Hi All,
I am 38 years old, no children and first pregnancy ended in a missed miscarriage confirmed in December 2022, should have been 8 weeks and measured 6 weeks 1 day, i had ERPC on 6th Dec, CD1 on 9th Jan 2023 and currently CD 16 and trying, wish me luck :)

After MMC i rang doctor to have bloods checked as a precaution, they did a full blood count, thyroid check and sugars. My bloods came back low in B12 and folate, strange as I eat very well and I have been taking folic acid for months.
Doc asked me to go back for another test, had that today and I am waiting on results.

I suppose this thread is really a question of has anyone else been told they have a B12 deficiency? i have read online it is linked with recurrent miscarriage, do you think this could have caused the miscarriage?
has anyone went on and had a successful pregnancy? how was it treated, is there anything you would advise?

Thanks everyone and wishing you all well

wasn't sure what section to out this in so have put it in miscarriage forum also

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage ❤️

Bit of a long shot but have you been tested for coeliac disease? It can cause unexpected vitamin deficiencies and can be a cause of miscarriage. I had zero symptoms when I was diagnosed last year through my miscarriage investigations.

Sorry for your loss xx

I have b12 deficiency which I take daily b12 vitamins During my pregnancy with DS1 I had to
have b12 shots total of 6 over the course of 2 weeks . DS2 I was put on iron b12 and vitamin d thankfully didn’t need the shots .

Ive had 4 successful pregnancies the b12 / low iron only started to happen whilst pregnant with DS1 (my third baby ) . I’m not sure why it’s never returned to a normal level without the supplements .

Only thing I can suggest really is keep ontop of your vitamins .

I'm the same age as you, have pernicious anaemia and had a baby in the summer. Had had one early MC previously.

I usually have B12 injections every three months, but they were stopped during the pregnancy. I'd managed to build up quite a healthy level of B12 before falling pregnant, thanks to the injections (and supplements on top!) and that meant I never quite dipped to a worrying level during the pregnancy.

What I'd say is that noone caring for me (GPs, Obstetricians, Midwives) seemed very knowledgeable on how best to manage a B12 deficiency whilst pregnant, and there seems to have been very little research on it.

Baby was born slightly early due to slowing growth and is still very small, so who knows if that was linked.

I'd definitely get that B12 in you whilst you can and I wish you all the luck Flowers

Thank you that's very useful info.

I'm gonna get supplements ASAP
