Hi ladies

Anyone out theere in the situation where doctors can see symptoms of PCOS but keep saying that they can't totally confirm it?

I have still got loads of tests to have done, BUT I have had blood tests and an ultrasound.

My scan showed one ovary showing signs of PCOS. It has a bumpy appearance and is enlarged. The actual report from the sonographer said it did have symptoms of PCOS but not all symptoms.

In other words....can one just have a very little case of PCOS but enough to produce the undesirable affects of Weight gain/infertility/spots etc?

Anyone?

Hi - this thread is a little out of date. We've got some more information on PCOS here. MNHQ

ARRGHHHHH fruitloop! Hehehee you crack me up! You are so funny!

Yeah....it is weird.....I never had skin tags before. Well maybe in my entire 30 years of life I might have had 2.

But suddenly in the last 6 months - I have 2 appear out of nowhere!! The one in my underarm area is getting bigger as well! NOOOOOOOOO...

Fruitloop..I think the GPs try not to find anything wrong with people if they can help it! They seem to miss these subtle signs - EVEN when we point them out to them! Grrrrrr...

I am starting to feel more and more like I definitely have PCO or PCOS....they just haven't run enough stupid tests yet to be happy to confirm it!!!! GRRRR....

Hi just want to add my story. I was diagnosed with PCO at 25. Main symptom was irregular and almost non existent periods. Was on the pill for quite a while then came off but no periods. A scan showed lots of cysts on my ovaries. Blood tests showed a very high LH/FSH thingy (sorry not quite the right term).
However, when I looked it up on the net I didnt match the symptoms normally associated with PCOS. I am underweight, not spotty/hairy ect.
To cut a long story short, was booked with consultant for drugs (cant remember what) to help get pregnant. A week before the appointment found out I was pregnant. Now my periods are regular (go figure).
You can have PCO without PCOS and you can still get pregnant. Dont loose hope

My story is very similar to Nataz's. After nearly 4 years of trying, and very irregular periods plus a couple of possible miscarriages, I was sent for a scan. This revealed at least one polycystic ovary. I was referred to the fertility clinic but I cancelled the appointment because I fell pregnant.

I think things are a little more regular since having DS (certainly more so than the really wacky times). I was never overweight but weight has just been falling off me ever since I gave birth, and it's still going. I don't know if that's to do with hormones sorting themselves out, or what.

Wow...bizarre how PCO can have the totally opposite affects for some people hey!

It is also interesting that many women have come on the thread saying that pregnancy improved their cycles.

I have got it the other way round....I rpesume I was fine up until 2 years ago. I fell pregnant with DS within 2-3 months of trying ( so quick) but after about a 8 months, the weight started piling on and my periods went a little haywire.

So having a child has done the opposite!

Hopefully I will get given clomid /merformin and have my second....and the balance will be restored..

I can always hope!

Hi ladies

Had the internal ( yuk) scan yesterday and it seems that I have polycycstic appearences on BOTH ovaries. As far as the sonographer was concerned they looked polycycstic.

Straight after the scan I went to see my nurse at the fertilty clinic and she went through all the blood tests I've had done. TYPICAL! My LH and FSH are in normal balance so my blood work does not scream out a problem.

So I soldier on....

Have to have another scan on Monday next week to see if any of the little eggies are ready to pop!

I am going to get soooooo bored of the hospital...

I guess I might be one of those lucky ladies to have PCO rather then PCOS?

how is everyone else getting on?
