At my witts end now, 2 years of trying and absolutely nothing. We have an 8 year old who was a lovely suprise so obviously did not involve any trying as such. We were young at the time only 20 so I never experienced the want for a baby and underestimated how overwhelming it can be

Really starting to struggling seeing all my friends have babies and seeing it all over social media constantly.

Spoken to gp awaiting referral I gynocology already been waiting a year so no idea how much longer . I have positive ovulation tests every month around day 16 and even brought proov test which showed the best score which apparently means I am ovulating. But if I'm ovulating and we are having sex regularly why is it taking this long 🥲

Has your dp had a sperm test?

Ks1994 · 15/01/2023 08:21

His gp won't give him one because we already have a child together

I’m in a similar boat but ‘only’ been trying just over a year. All tests for both of us from GP are normal . Fertility appt next week though

That’s wrong - anyone can be referred for fertility investigations it’s treatments that are subject to criteria

Did your partner get sperm analysis through his gp?

similar boat here OP, been ttc our third for over 2yrs now. One MC in between.

everyone around me recently us pregnant or seems to have 3 children.

i understand :-( xx

Anonbaby · 15/01/2023 09:08

We have been trying for our third for almost 2 years too with no issues previously. It’s heartbreaking. We are debating ivf at the moment.

your partner needs a SA. Ours came back under on all measures despite previously being normal x

curliegirlie · 15/01/2023 10:32

Whilst it's really useful to get SA in terms of getting a hold on what the problem might be, if anyone does get a bad result, don't get too disheartened. Back when TTC DD1 DH's first SA was terrible (something like 5miu). We realised it had been left for too long before being analysed, but that must have scared him, as the next one a couple of weeks or so later was even lower. BUT, despite then being resigned to having to go through IVF, we conceived naturally a few months later and went on to have DD2 afterwards too.

Anonbaby · 15/01/2023 11:02

@curliegirlie that’s so good to know, thank you! How long did it take in total? It’s been 20 months for us. Really can’t imagine it happening at all now! They’ve told us we need to have ICSI which we don’t want x

curliegirlie · 15/01/2023 12:46

We took 16 months TTC DD1, although aside from potential male factor, I was also diagnosed with hypothyroidism during that time when having a crazy 146 day cycle. After I started Levothyroxine my cycles settled and we conceived 6 months later.

DD2 took 12 months/cycles and currently on cycle 12 TTC a third, but resigned that that may not happen as we gave ourselves 12 months from a surprise MC I had last March....

strawberryandcreams · 15/01/2023 12:51

One year for us too!
Have 2 children.
Paid for a SA- £275
Yes a lot, but we had the results in 2 weeks - money well spent

I agree with going private if you can afford it. Much qyuicker.
